Très bruyant, tout résonne dans l’immeuble. Salle de bain catastrophique, robinetterie HS, un filet d’eau sans eau chaude. Le tout pas très propre…On a dormi 2 lits sur le ressort du matelas complètement HS. Accueil pas très sympa, on a eu un problème avec la réservation de notre taxi pour aller à l’aéroport ! Le seul point positif est l’emplacement.

A horror. We booked a room for our upcoming visit during carnaval via booking.com. They asked us to pay in advance and there it went wrong. She suugested us to pay via Paypal or bank. We were happy to book via Paypal but she couldnt send a link. We tried to contact them and the lady kept telling she is abroad. We waited when she returned but she didnt answer the phone. Week later she sent a message that she cancelled our booking because room is more expensive. We called her but the lady was really offensive. Wouldn’t listen at all. She kept talking without even hearing what we got to say. cancelled our booking with booking.com now she is telling booking.com we didn’t meet the conditions and we were not polite . We’ve been polite all the time but got fed up with her, telling that we’ll sure let hear from us. No never anymore.

Gostava de dar mais do que 3 estrelas, pois as funcionárias eram simpáticas e a missão de caridade com os animais é muito valiosa. O quarto estava limpo, mas pelo preço acho que deveria ser consideravelmente melhor. A cama era bastante desconfortável, muito cheiro a esgoto no WC (o que não seria um problema tão grande se desse para fechar a porta), muito barulho à noite (portas a bater, gatos a miar constantemente, ...). Posto isto, as funcionárias eram simpáticas e atenciosas e não tivemos problemas, mas acho que por preços semelhantes consegue-se bastante melhor no Mindelo. O quarto era o que tem WC privada.

Le personnel a accédé à toutes mes requêtes même si nous avons du utiliser un traducteur pour nous comprendre. Dans la chambre se trouve un petit livre avec des recommandations de restaurant, les règles de l’hôtel et d’autres informations intéressantes. Il y a des animaux dans la réception mon plus grand regret est qu’il est interdit de faire entrer le chat dans les chambres. 🤣 Merci à cet hôtel d’œuvrer pour la cause animale.

What a wonderful place. The hotel is simple, clean and well looked after by amazingly friendly staff. There is no hot water, but a refreshing cool shower was just the job after a long day in the sunshine.||To get the best out of the trip, make sure you volunteer to help out at the nearby shelter. It involves a short trip in the back of the truck to just outside the city, where you can spend hours walking and socialising friendly dogs.||A truly magical experience - I can't wait to visit again

Es un hostel con una ubicación ideal cerca del centro y de la praia da Laginha! Además de que hacen una excelente labor con los animales de calle. (Recomiendo visitar el refugio y estar una mañana paseando a los perros) Pero lo mejor de Simabo es el equipo humano que tiene: Ñilza, Jenny, Cynthia, Jackeline, Luna, Anderson y Jako Obrigada por vuestra profesionalidad, acogida y atención. Amazing place in Mindelo! I was there twice already and would be more than happy to come back again. The hostel has a great selection of rooms, dorms and privates. Common kitchen and living room and it really has a homely atmosphere. The people working there are lovely and always happy to help. And the best part is the animals. They have a shelter where all the profit goes to. You can adopt an animal and friends of mine that did could not be more happy. I can't recommend this hostel highly enough!

Even if the price is low the quality and the experience wasn’t great for us! - Our room was very basic and was just next to the shared bathroom but as it’s in the ground floor everyone was using it so you always had noise and it’s not clean at all in the end - in the shower there is no hot water and it wasn’t mention anywhere. And when I asked how to put hot water because I thought I didn’t find how to do it, the guy from the reception just laughed at me saying there is no hot water. Other people were heating water in the kitchen to have a proper shower which was super long and you just waited so long to have your turn in the bathroom and to have a cold water - the charity for animals is great but at some point it was becoming overwhelming you have barking dog the cat meowing outside your door in the middle of the night. It smells dog and cat in your room, our window was in front of the place where 2-3 dogs slept so you almost can’t open your window to breathe in So all in all really deceptive for us

I've stayed a couple of nights at Simabo's hostel the last week and was also here a year ago. The hostel is close to the beach, restaurants, the ferry port and groceries. The spacious kitchen enables you to cook and meet up with other guests. The rooftop terrace is perfect for enjoying a view across Mindelo or having a drink. The staff is very friendly and all profits of the hostel support the animal shelter on the island. I recommend staying here and hopefully I'm coming again.

Experience globalement mauvaise. Si votre avion est décalé ou a du retard sachez qu ils vont encaisseront le prix de la chambre en totalité sans aucune remise ou négociation possible (contrairement à tous nos autres hôtes du sejour). Les propriétaires ne vous donnent pas d'information sur les bons plans et même quand il s'agit d'avoir accès au balcon de la chambre ils ne vous laissent pas les clés car ne vous pensent pas assez autonome pour le fermer vous même avant de quitter la chambre. Si vous vous posez la question, l'odeur des animaux est bien présente dans les salle commune. Seul point où il n'y a rien à dire c est l emplacement qui est vraiment pratique.

Perfect place to stay if you are a pet lover, not only because the in house cats are just adorable but also because of the "concept" and story behind this place! The location is perfect, near to laginha beach and to the centre (praça amilcar cabral etc etc) at the same time! The staff is very nice and supportive from the moment you make the booking! I have stayed at Simabo for 1 week. I loved every moment of my stay. The building is pretty new, all rooms are well decorated and include all the services.||Some of the rooms have shared toilet, I found them always clean. ||Silvia and Paolo, the 2 presidents of the association are 2 marvelous persons, always smiling and good hearted. They helped me with to put on a map all the things to visit and they contributed to have an amazing experience in Sao Vicente.||Also, the Simabo is shelter for cats and dogs and I enjoyed cuddling the little kittens in the morning :-)||Thank you for your kindness. Great place and staying there helps all street animals on the island - so obviously a great opportunity for sustainable travel. It is okay value for money, but since it is a hostel it can be a bit loud - especially near the kitchen or on weekends. Showers are only cold, but wifi works well. The owner is extremely friendly and it is lovely to meet nice people in the hostel itself. If you do actually wanna see the rescue dogs, you'd have to go out to the shelter. There are only cats staying in the hostel, so it's great if you're a cat person.

I stayed at this hostel last September. It is a very well located place; near the center and 200 meters from the beach. It's clean, the staff is nice and there's a great atmosphere; a good place to meet people if you travel alone and want to share a beer or a snack with someone ... a place without luxury but highly recommended, with the incentive that the benefits obtained go to Simabo organization that protects dogs and cats from the streets of San Vicente. The best value in Mindelo.

He estado alojándome este pasado mes de Septiembre en el Hostel Simabo y ya lo estoy echando de menos; me encantó! El ambiente es maravilloso y si viajas solo siempre puedes encontrar a alguien con quien salir a compartir un café o una cerveza... la localización es perfecta; muy cerca de la policía y del centro de la ciudad y a sólo 200 metros de la playa. El hostel es un lugar limpio y tranquilo, perfecto para disfrutar de tu estancia en Mindelo. Ik was hier exact een maand. De verhouding tussen prijs en qualiteit is naar mijn mening zeer goed! Het personeel is zeer aardig en behulpzaam. Over het algemeen straalt het hostel een gezellige sfeer uit. De gemeenschappelijke ruimtes worden dagelijks gepoetst en de kamers zijn bij aankomst ook zeer netjes en schoon. De locatie is naar mijn mening perfect. Het hostel ligt kort bij het strand, een supermarktje, een politiebureau, een medisch centrum,... en het stadscentrum is ook niet ver weg.||Simabo heeft niet enkel een hostel, maar ook een dierenkliniek en hondenshelter in Mindelo. Wat ik ook een grote meerwaarde vindt, is het feit dat de winst die het Simabo Hostel maakt, volledig hier naartoe gaat.||Het enige nadeel dat ik prsoonlijk heb ondervonden, is dat er geen warm water is. Dit kan een tegenvaller zijn als je graag hete douches neemt. Zelf heb ik hier niet al te veel last van gehad aangezien dat koud water best verfrissend is met dit warme klimaat!

I had the worst experience with Simabo’s Backpackers hostel, I got attacked by 2 men of the hotel one night and reported them to the direction. The staff told me to not say anything because it would cause problems and ruin the hotel reputation, then they forbid me to go in the public spaces of the hotel. I showed them my bruises and they told me that I must have fallen on the stairs and that no one would believe that they hit me. I am shocked and extremely disappointed of every one of the staff, I am an 18 year old girl and clearly this hotel is not a safe place for women. I had never seen a place that dishonest and unsafe. Run away !

Io e il mio compagno abbiamo avuto il piacere di trascorrere alcune notti presso l'ostello di Simabo... che dire? Ci siamo trovati benissimo! Le camere sono molto semplici ma accoglienti ed hanno tutto il necessario per trascorrere un ottimo soggiorno. La cucina, le terrazze e gli altri spazi in comune ti permettono di fare amicizia e scambiare due chiacchiere con gli altri ospiti e con i gestori dell'ostello, sempre disponibili a dare indicazioni e suggerimento di ogni tipo. Il ricavato dell'ostello inoltre viene devoluto al 100% all'associazione Simabo che si prende cura dei cani e gatti randagi o malati dell'isola: stupendo! Consigliato sicuramente.

Ostello ubicato in una posizione tranquilla, vicinissima alla bellissima spiaggia di Laginha e al centro di Mindelo. Le stanze sono molto carine e pulite, e anche gli ambienti in comune sono molto piacevoli. Ha una terrazza a dir poco FAVOLOSA, un piccolo paradiso dove rilassarsi la sera!!! E in più tutto il ricavato va all'associazione Simabo, che si prende cura dei cani e gatti randagi di Sao Vicente! I proprietari Silvia e Paolo sono persone molto gentili e disponibili. Vale proprio la pena soggiornare al Simabo's Backpackers' Hostel.

The hostel is well located, few minutes far from the nice laginnha beach and 10 minutes walking from the city center. The neigborhood is quite and safe. The hostel is clean, quite, you can use the well equipped kitchen, and it is nice to meet and talk to other guests and simabo volunteers. The atmosphere is warm and cozy… It is possible to ask Milena for preparing delicious vegan breakfast and lunch – and we are not vegan… We had the pleasure to meet Paolo, Simabo president, who gave us very usefull tips about Mindelo and Sao Vicente island. The organization and the work they have been doing is impressive and very important to improve everyone living conditions in Sao Vicente. Very pleasant hostel run by a charitable organization for helping animals. Staff and volunteers are the best, rooms are great. Animals hang out in the office, but in the hostel area there was only a cat. Cleanliness was high enough my cat allergies didn't bother me. Le camere sono ariose e luminose (ne abbiamo provate due), la cucina in comune è ampia e ben attrezzata e ci sono diversi terrazzi in cui rilassarsi al fresco, oltre a un'ampia zona living a piano terra, fresca e accogliente. Il punto forte dell'ostello è la bella atmosfera internazionale e amichevole che si respira: tanti ragazzi da tutto il mondo, ma senza confusione o rumore. Gli ambienti sono pulitissimi e, cosa fondamentale, tutto il ricavato è devoluto per la gestione del canile e della clinica veterinaria gestiti da Simabo! E' anche possibile visitare il canile e farvi volontariato: noi l'abbiamo fatto tutti i fine settimana per un mese ed è stata un'esperienza bellissima!

Das Hostel hat einige sehr schöne Zimmer, wir hatten leider trotz vorheriger Buchung ein Durchgangszimmer ohne Fenster, durch das der dahinter wohnende Gast gehen musste. Der Preis war derselbe, wie für die schöneren Zimmer. Da man damit den Tierschutz in Mindelo unterstützt, war es ok. für uns aber eigentlich wäre zumindest das Angebot einer Preisreduzierung angebracht gewesen. |Es riecht auch im Hostel wie beim Tierarzt, obwohl die Tierstation im Nebenhaus ist. |Sehr nah am Strand und am Fährhafen gelegen. Ruhige Lage.

We (Dutch couple) stayed at Simabo's Backpackers' Hostel in December 2018 for two weeks. Very hospitable and helpfull team. The hostel is cleaned every day, and even our room was cleaned several times during our stay. The location of the hostel is great! Just five minutes from the cozy centre of Mindelo and the beatiful beach Praia da Laginha. We also visited the shelter a few times and walked the dogs, who were all so friendly and enthusiastic. Aanstaande november reis ik voor de 3 keer naar Mindelo en zal weer in SIMABO hostel verblijven. In de eerste plaats omdat het hostel in een fijne buurt, op 5 minuten van het strand, gelegen is. De kamers en gemeenschappelijke balkons zijn erg netjes maar eenvoudig. Doordat je samen met andere reizigers de keuken en een grote gemeenschappelijke woonkamer deelt, is het er altijd gezellig.||||Deze organisatie, die haar kantoor verderop in de straat heeft, runt een NGO die straathonden en katten opvangt en medische hulp voor huisdieren biedt. Als je geïnteresseerd bent, er zijn goede mogelijkheden om als vrijwilliger te helpen door bijvoorbeeld een halve dag mee te gaan naar de hondenopvang en wandelingen met ze te maken. Als dat niet jouw ding is, geen probleem, het is optioneel...||||De staf is behulpzaam en kan je helpen met tips en info over Mindelo, het eiland en eventuele trips naar Santo Antao. De veerdienst vertrekt op 10 minuten lopen vanaf het Hostel.||||Kortom, voor veblijf in Mindelo is SIMABO oor mij een "no brainer" en beveel ik deze plek graag aan!

Vicino al centro, vicino alla spiaggia, vicino al porto, prezzo buonissimo per soggiornare in un luogo molto carino, arredato con materiali di recupero, con un tocco di fantasia, molto allegro, con spazi all'esterno dove potersi godere un po' di relax, pulito, i gestori sono disponibili e gentili cosa molto importante il ricavato serve come parte del sostentamento dell'associazione SIMABO' che si occupa di sterilizzare gatti e cani randagi nell'isola e di informazione e sensibilizzazzione sul problema randagismo e molto altro. Direi tutto positivo soggiornare in un posto carino a poco prezzo aiutando un'associazione!!!

Die mit einem Balkon ausgestatteten Zimmer sind spartanisch aber ausreichend eingerichtet. Die Matratzen auf den Betten schon ein wenig durchgelegen und bei Wind und offenen Fenstern klappern auch mal die Türen. Küche und Aufenthaltsraum sind liebevoll gestaltet. Die Dachterrasse ist ganz nett, dort kann man gut relaxen. Die Gemeinschaftsbäder sind so lala. Wenige Gehminuten bis in die Innenstadt, auch ist man sehr schnell am wunderschönen Badestrand. Die Einrichtung unterstützt dazu ein Tierschutzprojekt. Im Verhältnis zum Preis eine Alternative zu den teuren Hotels.

Wir hatten das Zimmer mit eigenem Privatbadezimmer neben der Küche, deshalb kamen oft die Leute in unser Badezimmer. Dieses konnte man leider nicht immer schliessen;). Dass wir kein warmes Wasser hatten war ja ok aber es tröpfelte phasenweise nur einbisschen aus dem Duschkopf. Da es eine Tierschutzorganisation ist, nahmen sie ein paar Hunde nach unserem 2. Aufenthaltstag auf. Das Gejaule und Gebelle empfand ich als eher störend. Das Zimmer und das gesamte Hostel war aber sehr sauber und auch die Besitzer v.a. Silvia war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Wenn man etwas günstiges, zentrumnahes sucht und kein Problem mit Hundegebell hat, ist es wirklich gut!

La preocupación de la dueña por buscarnos taxi que nos trajera y llevara al aeropuerto, fue lo mejor de la estancia.||||Nos dijeron que la casa pertenecía a una asociación protectora de animales, que si nos importaba que hubieran animales en las instalaciones y dijimos que no nos importaba que nos gustaban los animales, pero cual fue nuestra sorpresa que no es que hubieran animales en las instalaciones sino que vivían en el edificio, una habitación para gatos bebederos en los pasillos, perros en los patios la azotea, en la cocina comunitaria vivía uno todo el día, desde que entrabas a la casa el olor a animales increíble. Tres noches pasamos casi sin poder dormir por los ladridos o las peleas de los gatos. El agua para la ducha a goteo, habríamos la llave no la ducha y nos íbamos echando el agua al llenar el puño, cuando llegamos los 3 baños de la casa sin papel higiénico, y jabón ni hablemos
