Stayed there for coworking with a friend. The space was quite small and dark but since we were there for just 1 day it didn’t really matter. You also get a drink that is included in the coworking pass. One thing that left us disappointed is that the staff is not really paying attention. My friend was in a call so I settled 2 bills: mine and hers. Then I stayed inside and she was by the pool. and the staff asked her to pay for herself as well! We realised it only after we have left the city. Donna pizza that is part of the cafe is amazing though, will definitely come back for the pizza when I’m in the area again

Café Ceylon is one of those places that quietly turns a normal day into a memory you keep replaying. We were there for the most recent market day and had an absolute blast from start to finish. The vibe was buzzing but relaxed, the kind of energy that makes you want to stay longer than planned. What really stood out was how welcoming it was for families. Our four-year-old was in heaven. Kids activities, face painting, splashing in the pool, and happily demolishing the food with zero complaints, which is the highest possible review from a small human. Daddy was equally happy, for the record. Great food, a joyful crowd, and a space where kids can be kids while adults actually get to relax and enjoy themselves. Café Ceylon absolutely nailed it. We will be back for the next market day without a doubt.

We were staying there between 15 and 29 January 2026. Amazing location, with very high quality restaurant and cafe. Good quality of beds and sanitary devices, though bear in mind that it's Sri Lanka, so think smaller Greek islands 10 years ago when you imagine the rooms. We stayed in the Villa, which is best to rent as a group, so you benefit from the rooms and the common space, which is exclusive to the guests of the villa. The owner is a great person,with a fascinatingt life story and contagious positive energy. We will surely return.

Cafe Ceylon… I honestly love this place and I’m genuinely sad that we’re leaving. The atmosphere here is incredibly calm, warm, and welcoming. The staff is amazing – always smiling, kind, and natural, making you feel comfortable from the very first moment. There is a swimming pool and a clean, beautiful courtyard with sunbeds, perfect for relaxing. What I really appreciate is that there is no minimum spend and no pressure to order anything, which is quite rare and makes the place feel very free and relaxed. There is also a coworking area, so if you need to work in peace, this is a perfect spot. And the pinsa… absolutely incredible 🤍 I highly recommend Emilia and Famia – real highlights. If you are in Ahangama and need a bit of peace away from the noise and crowds, this is exactly the place you want to be. Great energy, great people, great food. Highly recommended – I will definitely come back 🫶

Generally speaking it’s a beautiful place to chill with friends, and the food is fresh and of good quality, but I’ve gotta admit, that there are some better restaurants in town. This is our 2nd time going there. The place is lovely, the atmosphere is nice. The servers are very friendly. We got a few pizzas, salad, burger, prawns bowl and sandwiches and we fairly enjoyed it. My absolute favorite place! This spot truly has it all. Whether you need to focus on work or simply unwind, the atmosphere is ideal. The highlight is the large, immaculately clean, and well-maintained pool – it's simply fantastic. The place is wonderfully family-friendly and always peaceful. Adding to the charm is the delightful owner – she is incredibly kind, welcoming, and a pleasure to talk to. The evenings are magical with movie nights on the projector! After a month traveling through the south coast, our journey back to Colombo was perfectly capped with breakfast at this fantastic spot. The five of us sampled a variety of dishes—each one was delicious, and the pizza and Sri Lankan omelet was a particular standout. The service was both exceptionally fast and wonderfully friendly, with staff patiently answering all our questions. We were seriously impressed by the facilities; beyond the great food, they offer a co-working space, accommodations, and a stunning swimming pool we sadly didn't have time to use. It’s a gem that perfectly captures the relaxed, welcoming vibe of the south coast.

The pizzas were fresh out of the pizza oven with a delicious crispy base and the Burgers were juicy and fresh with a decent serving of fries made onsite. Very nice and chill, had the pancake melt which was a mess and barely any cheese and mushrooms in it. Das erste Mal war wirklich alles toll, leider hatte unsere Gruppe (5 Personen) alle eine Magendarmgrippe nach dem 2. Abend im Restaurant und dadurch 2 Tage im Hotelzimmer verbringen müssen. Despite the mixed reviews here, I really wanted to like this place. We passed it a few times while staying in Ahangama and noticed the grounds are really beautiful (big lawn, terrace, elegant / chic design and decoration). So, we went for an early dinner around 17:30. It was nice that we could play with a ball on the lawn with our toddler after we ordered. Also, we asked for a baby chair and they said it was broken, despite my seeing it in the lunch part of the restaurant walking in (looking not broken). I mentioned this and then they went and got it and said “fixed” 🤔. When we ordered I remember noticing the prices were quite high but figured it was because of the beautiful environment, good quality food and big portions. I was wrong (besides the beautiful setting). The fish and chips were equivalent to two small chicken fingers and tasted like they were fried and re-fried a few times over the past few days (Ie not fresh at all). The fries were soo salty and over-fried. The chicken wings came with a “potato spiral” which were actually the hardest potato chips (crisps) I’ve ever had in my life. My partner almost broke his tooth on them. My partners shawarma was OK. Good flavoring, decent amount of meat but otherwise nothing special. The brownie we finished with was very good. Overall, I give this place 3 starts instead of 1 because of the beautiful setting and good dessert. Otherwise, I would say in terms of food quality and portions, it is extremely overpriced.

I went to Cafe Ceylon as this place was open during the power cut tonight. It was beautifully lightened and the place and entourage looks great! Therefore my expectation were high, and also when I got the menu card, I saw that the pricing is upscale. I really was looking forward to good fresh fish with home made fries.. On arrival I tasted the first chips and it was completely cold. I informed the waiter about it and he sent it back to the kitchen. As my table was near the kitchen, I could see that the chef was just throwing the chips and fish back in to the fryer, instead of making a fresh new plate. When it came back, it was of course double fried, and the fish wasn't more than "nuggets" and tasted like ready made fish fingers.... In such a place I would have expected, home made fries, with freshly fish, battered and with lots of love of the chef. Not this time, the "love" wasn't put into it, and the deep fryer did it's work. Terrible place. We’ve been to tropical countries many times but this was insane. We spent there 1,5 week and we’ve seen 15 huge cockroaches. Dirty rooms (especially mattresses), poor wi-fi, noise from trains and the street is overwhelming. Food in restaurant is pretty ok, coffee in cafe is really nice.

Amazing restaurant and café!! We stayed in the Ahangama area for two weeks and ended up eating at Cafe Ceylon 3 times because we loved it so much. The atmosphere is great and the space is really cute! There is a big restaurant area for nighttime, a cute outdoor cafe for lunch and a nice little shop with things from local craftsmen. It’s all in one big green courtyard. The food is great - for lunch I would recommend the green curry tofu bowl! For dinner I would recommend the vegetarian burger. And you have to try the Arrack Sour! It’s sooo good! Highly recommend this place!

Пожалуй пока самое большее открытое заведение из тех что видел на Шри-Ланке. Но впечатление неоднозначное от этого места. С точки зрения эстетики и чилла место класс. Сюда хорошо придти компанией и выпить в баре. А вот с точки зрения еды… нам было сложно выбрать, настолько сложно, что случайно взял «куриный бургер» и «фиш где чипс». Как и ожидалось бургер был средний (ну вряд ли здесь можно найти классный) правда говорят в La Mana хорошие, проверим. А в Цейлон он какой-то суховатый, например если бургеры в Москве - это «вау», то здесь это «нууу океей». «Фиш энд чипс» - рыба всем показалась пересоленной, а картошка слишком жирно-фритюренной. Но главное быть готовыми к долгому обслуживанию. Напитки принесли быстро. А вот основной заказ мы ждали около часа или даже больше, хорошо что мы не торопились и были в хорошей компании, время пролетело незаметно. Хотим дать ещё один шанс этому заведению, и сходить сюда ещё на завтрак, там другое меню, надеюсь что будет вкуснее 🙏🏻 Но повторюсь, вечером симпатично и уютно.

We visited Cafe Ceylon for Christmas Eve dinner. We'd booked in advance directly with the owner - a bubbly and hospitable expat lady originating from Germany (but hasn't been back in 45 years). The place is beautiful with a path lit with fairy lights leading down to the main restaurant. The place was beautifully decorated for Christmas and a lot of effort had gone into the ambience. The service (by the owner and her daughter, along with the staff) was excellent and the food (which catered for vegans) was amazing too. The people it attracted were well dressed, friendly & well mannered types. We had a really great evening and look forward to returning. They also have a cowowrking space within the grounds so will be trying that out as well. 👍🏻

We had a lovely dinner here listening to live music and thoroughly enjoying the laid back vibe. We really enjoyed the mahi mahi, lobster, cuttlefish, and dessert (brownie & vegan ice cream). Family owned and a community feel. Other reviews noting this has a western feeling aren't totally wrong, but I'd call it more a blended vibe. You're getting fresh local food with a more global spin on the flavors. I’ve been to Sri Lanka 4 years in a row now and have dined at Cafe Ceylon each year. The quality has been lost and the prices are too high for the portions served. The hummus should be removed from the menu, I’d be embarrassed if I was the chef or owner to serve that. The tuna dishes are usually good, but so thin they are always over cooked. The burgers are served on really bad white bread. I do like the atmosphere and it’s a cozy place, but the chef needs to step up his game and the menu!

We went to cafe Ceylon for an three dish dinner and none of the dishes lived up to our expectations. The tuna ceviche came in big chunks served in a bowl without any taste from the soy. For main dish we had the vegetarian moussaka that had an terrible texture. For dessert I had some kind of mango that looked like it came right from a can that float around in a sauce. Overall a really cozy place with a menu that really caught us from the beginning unfortunately they couldn’t deliver. This place is not worth it’s money

the name is extremely misleading, there is nothing Ceylonese about this place except the wait and kitchen staff. the food is fusion thai and sri lankan, i do not understand how a watered down green curry with a tiny portion of rice which costs equivalent to a dish at Shangrila Colombo can be passed on as anything but local or authentic. Even if its claimed to be thai fusion, i would like to protest as the Thai would be ashamed of such a green curry. The service was extremely slow and we werent even asked for a glass of water. If i hadnt been hungry after our long day's drive i would have walked off.

Cold chips, battered fish which was stale cold and soggy, undercooked rice... how can a Sri Lankan chef get that wrong. I will not be going back or recommending.

Probably the best place to grab dinner in Kabalana. This place serves tasty upscale food. You can come on for lunch too and have a mini version of the menu, but you'll definitely find more to choose from in the evening. The food tends to be a bit overcooked and somewhat dry (we tried the burger and chops) but it's overall very tasty and worth the visit. Prices are high as you would expect them to be.

I spent a good few weeks here. The surroundings are beautiful and the rooms stylish and clean.|The restaurant food is lovely, well presented and tasty. |The owner Britta is a kind and friendly lady who makes everyone feel welcome. She is a real asset.|My only complaint is the staff working here. They are bond idle. More than once in an empty restaurant there would be 5 waiters talking at the bar. My friends and i used to joke as to who would wait the longest to be noticed. On average it took 15 minutes to get a menu bought to the table.|I hope that management try to Address this issue as it spoils what is otherwise an amazing place.

After couple of curries, rotti and stomach pain we checked this (expensiver) restaurant. And we loved it! Since I experienced some bad fishdishes I didn't trust any chef here. But in Cafe Ceylon I trusted and it was worth jumping over my fear. The fishdish was excellent!||||Just one example of our dinners (we went there 3 times)||||Starter: Dumplings / Bruschetta ||Main: Mahi Mahi / Vegetarian Dish ||Dessert: Chocolate Brownie with Vanille Icecream||||||For sure it is much expensiver than the local around the corner. But a visit in this restaurant (no noise and green garden) is worth a visit.

Our waiter, whose name escapes me now, due to a hangover, was fantastic. It was Sudi, or Rudi. ||The food was great with a good selection of deserts and cocktails. I travelled all over the island and by far, Cafe Ceylon had the best food. The grilled fish with wasabi mashed potatoes and mango salsa was incredible. The flavor combination and textures were innovative and on point. I stayed at the attached hotel and the breakfast was also tasty. My only regret is not eating here more often to try the rest of the dishes.

The ambiance is excellent. It was disappointing that the food was not as good as we expected. But if your looking for a quite, calm and peaceful place to have a drink or a meal, I think this place will be a good choice.

I stayed for one week at Cafe Ceylon and loved the beautiful, open space, my spacious room and bathroom, the friendly staff, the breakfast, and, above all, the surf coaching with Tim Jones of Surf School Lanzarote, who is now setting up a school in Kabalana/Galle as well. It's a smaller villa with 4 or 5 rooms, so you can have your own space to do as you like.||||Food is great as well, they play nice jazz music...and if you need a more touristic environment, Unawatuna and all sorts of other little places and resorts are only a tuktuk ride away.

We visited this restaurant last night. It is set in a lovely garden. We had cocktails to start along with tuna fillets and the local banana desert. The food was fabulous, service was great. In fact it was so good we are going back again tonight|Check it out.

If you have a sweet tooth, I implore you to try the brownie and ice cream.. I had it twice an dam STILL craving it. Best dessert ever. Food was also simply divine. The room was amazing.. it's just across form the lovely beach where the "surf rock" is. It was super clean and spacious and the staff were really nice. Great stay, you won't regret your stay there for sure :)

I've been meaning to leave a review for Cafe Ceylon since we stayed there last July (2015). We stayed in Jasmine Cottage with our three little boys aged 5, 4 & 2. It was the perfect place for us as it was near a beautiful beach without being directly on it (so no need to worry about our kids disappearing into the waves!) with a huge garden that the boys enjoyed exploring. The 2-bedroom cottage gave us privacy as a family without being cut off from civilisation as the restaurant was fabulous. The food was wonderful and reasonably priced and the breakfast was amazing with fresh papaya and homemade bread and jam. ||||Some of the reviews here are unfair. Cafe Ceylon is not 5-star, nor does it claim to be. The price is pretty much spot on for what it provides. It is pretty, comfortable and charming with hot water and ACs in the bedrooms - what more do you need? We didn't want to be in one of these huge, character-less 5 star resorts where you could be anywhere in the world. We wanted to experience and explore Sri Lanka in earnest, and Cafe Ceylon was certainly the ideal place to do this from.||||The staff were also charming and extremely helpful. Chandra, the housekeeper who came everyday, put us in touch with her nephew who was a tuk tuk driver. He was absolutely lovely and took us all over the place for less than a third of what other tuk tuk drivers were asking for. He even took us to Galle for the day, showed us around, waited for us outside the restaurant where had lunch and brought us back - all for around £5!!! Obviously we gave him a huge tip as I couldn't believe he asked us for so little!||||Sadly, we had to cut our break there short (only five days into our three week stay) as my father passed away unexpectedly. I can't thank Fiona, the owner, enough for her understanding during what was the most devastating experience of my life. She helped arrange a taxi to take me to the airport as soon as I received the news that my father was dying and thanks to that, I made it back to the UK in time to say goodbye. The rest of the staff were extremely helpful and rallied round to help my husband who was left behind for another day or two with three small children until we could arrange more flights to the UK. Thankfully, he and the children still managed to have a lovely time visiting Koggala lake and the nearby turtle hatchery. ||||All in all, a lovely place to stay with charming staff and great food :-)

Нашли это место по отзывам, удобно заехать по дороге Галле в Велигаму. Похоже на настоящий ресторан с весьма умеренными ценами. Например, 6 устриц 750 Rs, гаспаччо - 500. Не берите бургеры, они тут странные и подаются с горой жареного батата. Лучше рыбу, например, стейк из тунца.
