It’s #EarthDay and this year’s theme is ‘restore our Earth’ – so, we have followed the lead of Rev. Jared Michaels and commemorated the day with a #Qigong session for our housemates led by Darcy from @yinlife_.β

Qigong is a practise based on cultivating energy, calming the mind and restoring our health and selves. We chatted with Darcy recently about Qigong and its benefits:β

β¨ What is Qigong?β

Rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, Qigong is an energy practice that is at least 3000 years old and combines slow, flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing and a calm meditative state of mind to encourage a healthy flow of energy – or βQiβ – through the body.β

β¨ What attracted you to the practice? β
β
Like many Londoners, I was looking for a healing practice to help me relax and feel more balanced. After practicing meditation for a few years and then learning more about breath work, I was keen to find a practice that connected me to my body as well as the mind and breath. Through moving meditation, Iβve become calmer but more energetic.β

Qigong is a simple yet powerful exercise for reducing the effects of stress and bringing more balance, tranquility and vitality to your life.β

Practicing Qigong regularly can also improve your immune function, the quality of your sleep, lower your blood pressure as well as improving your posture and balance – ideal for when weβre working from home. β
