Il Fornello Country House

I was really excited to stay here and very disappointed upon arrival. I booked for a month (which is the minimum) and stayed one night before leaving. The rooms are so dirty, I lay down and there was a scorpion in the bed. The shower was moldy and wouldn’t get hot. The rooms are also insanely hot. 35 degree weather and the rooms have no ac or even fans. No communal space. It was “under construction”. When I arrived other guests also complained that they had not had hot showers for weeks. There was also no one there when I arrived so I wandered around the building a while. When I requested a refund and offered to pay for a nightly fee, I was only offered 200 refund out of over 900. Really disappointed by the whole experience.

Very nice and quiet place to recover from city life. The owners, Stina and Magnus, are really friendly and make you feel at home. There is also a outside kitchen, perfect for enjoying meals together with other guests.

I think this place needs to be taken care of, a lot of things are not working well, first of all, the water doesn't stay hot, that happens to a lot of the rooms, the owner needs to fix this. Second, there is not indoor communal kitchen, only outdoor, it rained a lot where we are there, it's very tough to cook in the rain while so two stove tops are just not enough for the entire community. Third, our group stayed there two months, first month people just freeze in the coworking, only have way to the second month we were told by the handyman where to turn on the heaters attached to the walls. Fourth, the cleaning ladies did their bare minimum on the cleaning. There's a cute outdoor bar, but spider webs are accumulated daily, no one cleans them, so we didn't get to use it. For the entire Coliving there is only one washing machine, and we can only use it on the days other than the cleaning days, the cleaning ladies should have their own washer for the house, and the there should be at least two washer for the entire property to use. So many things are so broken or just never aim for real problem solving in this place, cabinets in the kitchen for instance, it will flew off everytime. There are just much weird stuff going on, and not the fun kind.

Had a wonderful 1-month stay at beautiful Il Fornello! Stina and her crew went above and beyond to accommodate us😁 As expected in an old country house/converted factory in the Italian countryside the place comes with its rustic charm and history! It’s a travel experience off the beaten path, allowing you to immerse in the local village and enjoy the slow country life. The house is perfect for digital nomads, and we enjoyed working from our spacious apartments, the outdoor kitchen, coworking space or by the pool☀️ Even though it feels remote and rural, the location is close to picturesque villages with plenty of great restaurants and major cities like Rome and Florence can be reached by train! I’d recommend staying here for anyone looking for a nice stay immersing in the italian countryside, and especially digital nomads and larger groups of families/friends looking to spend quality time in the many wonderful common spaces of the property! Calm and peaceful place with the perfect combination of own time and planned activities. We visited Il Fornello during the month of July with two small children, 5 and 3 years old and it suited our family perfectly. I would also like to come back myself to work. Large and clean apartment with the possibility to cook light meals indoors. Large and accessible outdoor kitchen that is perfect for cooking and enyoing foods and drinks. Both children and adults appreciated the pool. You need to have access to a car to get to nearby areas. We borrowed bikes to visit the nearest village. Great opportunity to socialize with other people and during our weeks we attended pizza nights, cooked pasta and watched movies. The owners and hosts were accommodating and always available for questions. We had a great time and will visit Il Fornello again soon❤️

A wonderful stay and a fantastic Coliving experience at Il Fornello. The house is magnificent and the location ideal. A truly enchanting getaway ;) We loved the Coliving spirit and the kindness of our hosts. We met some wonderful people. We recommend this place for those who love authenticity. I am here as a host, during the month of March. The weather has been changeable, suitable for excursions and hikes. The apartment is pleasant, but it is responsive. Few guests so far (mid-March), hoping for more. The outdoor environment invites you to have dinner together in the outdoor kitchen. There is an air fryer, pizza oven and infrared heater. My friend and I have been on many excursions in the area. To get to nice hiking trails, you just need to cross the road. The owners are nice and helpful. I would love to return here!

Something more than just a vacation. Here you can choose to either be by yourself or to be a part of the whole gang. Lovely nights cooking in the outdoor kitchen and talking to people from other places in the world. Beautiful apartment and great with parking space.

Fantastic place for work and relaxation

A very relaxing and comfortable atmosphere, a warm and familiar welcome, and delicious and carefully prepared food!!! Thanks to the owners who were able to serve us with great care and memorable attention!!! I went with a friend thanks to a coupon and it was a really nice evening!!!|

A very well-kept and rustic place at the same time, the dishes are excellent and well-presented, all seasoned with a family atmosphere. We will definitely return if in the area, perhaps in the summer, given the very suggestive location.

A few nights ago, some friends took me to this restaurant, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised, first by the truly enchanting location and then by the truly delicious and authentic food. Discovering that in the heart of Umbria there's a restaurant that not only serves fresh fish but also does it with southern flavors is priceless! After sampling some excellent homemade appetizers, I ordered spaghetti with clams, which were simply delicious! But the main course was my favorite: a mixed fish dish with fried mixed seafood and baby calamari, cooked to perfection but most importantly, fresh. To finish, the magical touch was sitting by the outdoor pool to recharge our batteries before heading back to the city. I'll definitely be back very soon to eat here, where the colors of Umbria blend with the flavors of Naples.

I came across the restaurant of the complex, I was looking for a place outside the city of Pieve and I found the fornello, family-run but at the same time professional, the food offered fresh fish was really very good cooked in the Neapolitan style since the owners are Neapolitan, also they gave me a tour of the structure and the rooms are very clean and tastefully furnished with poor art. ||What can I say, pleasantly surprised, I will return for a weekend.

It was a wonderful holiday: the place is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and very well maintained, the owners are very kind, the food is authentic, the apartments are comfortable and clean. We recommend it and will return.

First things first: in the many reviews I've left on Trip Advisor, I've always tried to find the positives and, except in rare cases, to save the work of those who work there. In this case, my attempts at defense were futile, with repeated failures that ultimately led to the final rating. Let's start with the location: unlike what was advertised on Booking.com, the place is in the middle of nowhere and is in Moiano, not Città della Pieve, which is at least a quarter of an hour's drive away. Once there, we find a country house that literally translates to country home: classic wooden furniture without a specific style (perhaps recycled from some disused house, including photographs of the children like the others), a bed with a squeaky mattress, sheets with a terrible wool blanket (I slept with my clothes on), a bathroom with liquid soap diluted with water, exposed kitchen wires and a series of cute little animals (we counted 3 spiders, a scorpion and an earthworm) will contribute to changing your opinion from "for lovers of the genre" to "we run away happy to have survived". To be fair, the owners are kind (note: heating is paid separately, fortunately we were discounted, and the €20 final cleaning fee is unclear; I would have paid for a more thoughtful initial cleaning instead. Note the free Wi-Fi, which makes up for being unreachable by any mobile operator.) But when yet another trust, that of dinner, is betrayed by paying €120 for four pasta dishes and three mixed grills, three appetizers that were actually two, and a condiriso passed off as such, there are no mitigating factors left except to vehemently discourage a place that, while it has plenty of potential, is ruined by too many negative aspects.

All the reviews confirm what we experienced. Heating is paid separately upon departure. Breakfast is not included. The apartment is "prepared" by keeping the windows open until late at night. Nothing positive. Don't even think about it. It's not worth it.

I have been trying to book since last spring, but unfortunately as soon as you offer them the package they proposed on their website, they are suddenly full. Last attempt made on 01/08/2015 at 3.30pm. Confirmation email sent with the promotion at 6.30pm. It was all full. There is certainly a lack of professionalism and courtesy. It was enough to say that you could not take advantage of the package and offer another price, maybe it would have been fine anyway. I certainly do not recommend it.

I stayed at "Il Fornello" with friends on the night of December 31st. Honestly, the apartments weren't bad, but the rudeness, unhelpfulness, and superficiality of the owner, I presume, outweighed any positive aspects of the location. On a day with temperatures of 0 degrees Celsius and snow, we found the apartments freezing. From 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, we had to wear jackets, hats, and gloves, even though we had paid for heating separately. When we mentioned our extreme inconvenience, the aforementioned lady replied, "At home, with all the heating on, I always dress warmly, so you can do the same, and you'll definitely find the apartments warm when you return tonight." One of the four apartments even had broken pipes. I had to ask for another blanket because there was a blanket on my bed that, in that cold, that sub-zero temperature, and that north wind, certainly wouldn't have warmed even an Eskimo accustomed to the cold. The next morning, when we went to pay the 65 euros for this "excellent" service, the lady asked us for an additional 15 euros for a day's heating: perhaps natural gas is gold in those parts... Furthermore, when a friend of mine said, "We will definitely never come back here," the response was, "And don't come back!" (as if to say, we're not interested). Recommended: NO

After searching for a while (be careful not to go to Cita della Pieve, it's two towns further away), we ended up quite liking it. Nice pool, large rooms. The road wasn't really bothersome. We didn't eat there, just had breakfast, but you can skip that (it's Italy, after all)!

Nice place, shame about the additional cost for cleaning the apartment that wasn't agreed upon.

We called yesterday and booked for three days, arriving tomorrow, and they confirmed availability.||Today, with our bags packed for the whole family, they called to cancel everything: they said that while we were booking over the phone, someone had booked online...||Coincidentally, it took them a day to notice. They probably seized the opportunity with some passing guest and dropped us...||||Truly unreliable.

This Country Inn is tucked away on a quiet secondary highway in Umbria. It is a restored factory with a brick/stone basement where the restaurant is located. It is family run. The chef and restaurant owner actually came to our table to introduce themselves and to recommend some entree and wines. We ordered a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino for only 20 E which was superb. the chef followed with a cold fresh salad with prawns; followed by a noodle pasta with mussels and prawns, followed by an entree of Dorado, prawns and other fish. The food, service and atmosphere made this our favorite meal in Italy. We highly recommend this hidden gem!!

For me, a country house should envision rural tranquility and immersion in nature. The Fornello is located on a busy road, at the lowest point in a valley, offering only a view of the next hill without any sense of expansiveness, and guaranteed traffic noise. The rooms are uninviting, and the food in the hotel restaurant is a complete disaster. The chef comes to the table to suggest menu options – great – but beware the bill afterwards! Absolutely agree on the costs beforehand!! We will certainly never be coming back!

We stayed at a holiday complex called "Casa Graziani" in August 2011 (which was gorgeous).||We decided to go out for dinner to the restaurant Il Fornello one evening, which was only a short drive away. Our family had the whole restaurant to ourselves and were given special treatment by the staff, who were lovely, even the Chef and Manager came to have a chat to us.||||If you are a fish eater, you will love this restaurant!||It's quite unusual to find a restaurant like this in Umbria/Tuscany, you usually find mainly meat on the menu in these areas.||We were told by the staff that Il Fornello has been taken over by family from Naples, and they wanted to bring the menu that you would find in Naples.||||The food was very good and very large portions!||If you like meat, then unfortunately there wasn't much of a choice.||||But we had a very enjoyable evening, a lovely restaurant in a stunning area.

We, two adults and two children, stayed at Il Fornello for six nights in August. It's a lovely country house nestled in a verdant Umbrian valley. Our apartment consisted of a spacious living room with a kitchenette, television, a table and four chairs, a sofa bed (which converts into a double bed), a bedroom with a double bed, and a bathroom. There's plenty of room for two adults and two children to stay comfortably. The kitchen is equipped with ample dishes, cutlery, pots, and pans for cooking, and includes a two-burner electric stovetop, a small conventional oven (no microwave), and a small refrigerator. But without a doubt, the best thing about the country house is its surroundings, where children can play safely. The house is located about fifteen minutes from the A-1 motorway, which takes you to almost anywhere in Tuscany and Umbria, a region that, while less famous than the former, is well worth discovering, as are its charming inhabitants, who are less weary of mass tourism than their Tuscan neighbors. The country house has a good restaurant specializing in seafood dishes, which is quite popular with the residents of the surrounding villages. Unfortunately, it's a good restaurant, but it comes at a premium price, and therefore is beyond the budget of a family with children. In short, a highly recommended place in a wonderful region.

My vacation at Il Fornello last winter was very pleasant, great hospitality, good service, splendid food and beautiful landscape. Our room was very neat and comfortable. Great location to visit nearby towns like Montepulciano, Siena, Cortona, Assisi and many more.||I really liked this place and recommend it.

We stayed in the cottage at Il Fornello in May 2009. From our initial call to make the reservation all went smoothly. Il Fornello is on a quiet road in the hills. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The location is excellent Nearby are many small hill towns. Orvieto is an easy drive, and there are many small hill towns in any direction. It is a good base for seeing much of Umbria and nearby Tuscany. There are supermarkets nearby. Be sure to eat at IL Fornello. You will not be disappointed.

Il Fornello Country Inn was exactly what we were looking for, place to relax, great meals and a convenient base to explore Tuscany and Umbria. Rossy and Rodofo's hospitality so warm and welcoming, made us feel at home. We will definitely recommend Il Fornello to our friends and family. We'll be back for sure!.
