Myself and my partner booked for 4 nights in a private room. Upon check in my boyfriend was told there was a problem with their booking system (overbooked) and they had to cancel our booking. I understand these situations happen but why did they not contact us before we arrived? They offered us one night stay in a mixed dorm free of charge while we tried to find somewhere else to stay for the next 3 nights. I asked for confirmation that we would receive our refund and I was told it should be in my account in 20 days. However I went back to the hostel before I left Siargao to ask for contact details and proof of refund and I was then told that I had to reach out to booking.com myself and request for a refund. It’s just so frustrating, not even an apology in sight! I’m happy it was only a one night stay in the end and not 4! I got a really strange vibe from this hostel! Hopefully this doesn’t happen to others as it really put us out . I advise to just avoid !
