So my wife and I wanted to go away for our 20th wedding anniversary. After searching through many destinations and hotels, and deals, we finally decided to give Rhodes and the Rodos Palace Hotel a go. We booked our 3 night holiday through Loveholidays. We caught the early morning 05:40 flight, with Easyjet from Gatwick to Rhodes. The flight landed 20 mins ahead of time, and we were soon in a transfer taxi on our way to the hotel.
On arrival, and by now it was 1215, local time, we were told that we could not check in for our room, until 2pm. Which we were not informed about, through our hotel details. But no matter, we were told to keep our baggage in the luggage area, and were given a voucher for lunch. Which we duly took. The restaurant in which we had lunch, was very spacious with plenty of seating. Apart from bring served the drinks, it is a case of self service. In the middle was the area that had trays of hot food. Plenty of choice was on hand. Many different types of food were on offer. All hot. There was a salad bar and another counter for the carving of meat and other food on offer. There was also a dessert area, just full of that, desserts. Small simple portions, in small plastic bowls, or you could choose a Cheesecake or other cakes, that you had to serve yourself. Ice cream was also available. Many flavours to choose from. Lay out of food was good and organised well. On sitting at our table, a waiter approached within seconds asking what we would like to drink. Friendly, polite service and prompt too. Food was absolutely delicious and cooked very well.
Floor managers were there to make sure that everything ran well and that there were no problems. Cutlery was available through out and of course clean. But at one meal sitting, we did come across a dirty, stained fork, which was promptly replaced with lots of apologies.
After lunch we checked in. Or room was on the 5th floor. I believe there are 17 floors. The room we got was not disappointing. We had a balcony and from there we had a great view of the sea. Mediterranean I believe. So blue. To the left a view of the hills and other part of Rhodes. Very nice. The weather was the plus point. Sunny and fairly warm. Any thought of the London weather being pushed from my mind.
Room was a good size. Included a fridge and a TV on the wall. Tea/coffee making equipment was readily available. I found the mattress to be hard and on night 2 and 3, didn’t quite get a comfortable sleep. I suppose that’s down to not being used to it. Probably would have got better as time wore on, but then again we were only there for 3 nights.
Bathroom was again spacious and clean. Towels provided along with small bottles of shampoo, shower gel and body lotion.
We were given a card by which towels can be changed, but if you lose that card, you have to pay €10. They advise not to change the towels daily. So we did not and used them for 3 days, hanging them out to dry
There are 3 bars. One by the pool, a VIP one and one inside not far from the pool. It’s this one that can be used for your all inclusive. Not a vast selection by any means, but enough for you to enjoy a drink or two. Snacks are also available. All bars and restaurants governed by times.The bar by the pool, all drinks have to be paid for.
Friendly staff. Polite and eager to help.
On the day of our departure, our flight was not until 2050, local time. We had to check out by 12, even though it stipulated 11, but the hotel allowed us to have the extra hour. They also gave us a voucher for lunch. And our all inclusive card still allowed us to get drinks, if we so desired. Plenty of seating, allowing us to chill, before the flight home.
All in all a good experience from start to finish. Highly recommended. There is also a children’s play area. So keeps the kids occupied.
I would definitely like to go back. And am planning to do so, hopefully in the latter part of the year.
