I lived in Ghoomakad for two months and there is no better host than Mohinder ji who goes out of his way to ensure a pleasant experience especially with the Rice Beer :-). The whole environment is setup in a way to encourage interaction and collaboration. I met so many wonderful souls in tech & non tech from different parts of the world. There are a lot more things that made this place special for me. Ghoomakad Rasoi - run by Ravinder ji has been more than a place to eat delicious fresh, healthy food. I honestly felt like I was part of their community and even got invited to a couple of religious gathering where I got a chance to taste the traditional "Dham". Ravinder ji was also kind enough to drop me back to Dharamshala in his bike. A special 'shout out' for that gesture. Coworking space - a very cosy mud house with comfortable seating & desk space. I shared many wonderful moments with Ram, Pankaj & team from Tech Himalayas. Thank you guys for welcoming me with such warmth & taking me to watch the Avengers movie. Surrounding - you will hear water stream wherever you are which runs through, over & around Ghoomakad. It's like a water palace. I woke up every morning to the sight of the mighty Dhaluladhar right outside my window. It was blissful. Trust me. No better way to wake up. Places nearby - a few minutes walk up the road gets you to "The Bridge" where you can spend hours listening to the river song. There is also "The rock" & "The Cliff" for breathtaking sunsets. Dharamshala is also 6-7 kms away. There is plenty of places to check out like Kharota viewpoint, aghanjar Mahadev temple, Gyuto monastry, the river bed...I could go on & on really. So. I hope you have found enough reasons to vist Ghoomakad. Do mention my name & get a special discount on booking & food. P.S : Ghoomakad is not a hotel so if you are a spoilt city brat who expects room service, order people around just bcoz you have paid for the room and crib about every little thing that didn't meet your fancy globetrotter standards then Ghoomakad is not for you. Go find some star rated place where you can chitchat with your own shadow about how GOT ending sucked.
