Due to a last minute cancelation, I am looking for a volunteer from 11 /12 of November to mid December. 1h per day of work, daily cleaning in the guesthouse, rooms/beds to prepare, check in, guests to welcome, in exchange of a free stay in the shared room. São Miguel island, Azores.

Oh how funny - my last post got deleted - i guess someone doesn't like that I am sharing my experience here - so here again: We booked a stay at Novovento for 12 days, really looking forward to the place itself and to wake up every day with this incredible view. Sadly, it wasn't at all as expected. Our room smelled really strange, and there was a bucket in one corner to collect water from a leak. The smell occured in the same area so that we assumed it might have to do with moist, mould or something similar. To bare with that, we had to sleep with open windows which was freezing cold (feb/mar). On top of that, the bathroom was completely mouldy.
When we told Emelie about it, she did not at all try to find a solution and was instead just jelling at us (via telephone, as she was on holidays at that time). She told us that the bathroom looks like that since years, and that this is normal at the azores.
So far, we have not had one other experience with mould at the azores in other homestays or public places.
On top of that, she said, that the house is clean and that we were the first people complaining.
I don't know what has happened since the last visitors, but the house was definitely not clean and the mould was nothing I wanted to deal with during my holidays. We booked directly via the website which I regreted at that time as I am sure that airbnb would have reimbursed us. In this case, we didn't get our 30% deposit back and Emelie threatened us to call the police cause we were leaving earlier. The worst customer service I've ever experienced.
Attached are some photos so you can build your own opinion about it. I would definitely not recommend that place if you are looking for a relaxing, clean and friendly environment.

Wonderfully social guesthouse that feels more like a temporary commune than a guesthouse.

Cooking is no problem, and we were given many free bananas daily!

I had a wonderful time at Novovento Coliving on Sao Miguel island. Emily, the host, was super welcoming and made my stay great. The house is really nice - it's simple but very cozy - and surrounded by nature, which I loved. It's so peaceful there. Very good internet too. They've got everything you'd want in the house, so you don't have to worry about anything.
Just a heads up, having a car would be helpful because the buses aren't very frequent. The coliving is a bit far from most things, but don't miss the chance to hike to Sete Cidades from there. It's amazing!
I totally recommend Novovento Coliving. It's a great place to experience Sao Miguel. Thanks to Emily, the community & the lovely environment, it was a fantastic stay.

Good family vibe at the place and Emilie is a great host. Got by fine without a car, but it's honestly quite limiting to not have one. Altogether great place to spend a couple weeks to a month. Coworking space is nice, and the wifi is great in the garden so outside is 100% viable. Can also do a nice and easy hike up to Sete Cidades straight from the coliving ;)

I spent the month of July 2022 in Novovento. It's an amazing place to cowork and colive for a while. The coworking space has beautiful views over the ocean, and the rooms are very cozy. The best of the stay was to meet Emily (the best host), Benji (her lovely dog) and all the other colivers. The atmosphere at Novovento is amazing and we used to organize BBQs, hikes or other plans together. Azores is a wonder and the climate is the best you can get if you want to escape from the heat in the hot summer months. Solid 20-25 degrees day and night. The house is just a 45min walk to the top of the Sete Cidades volcano, one of the many amazing sights that the island has to offer. Definitely recommended.

Novovento is not to be missed. As a digital nomad, you can’t possibly ask for a more serene or idyllic place to do your work: Emilie has crafted a beautiful coworking space with ocean views & plenty of natural light. The kitchen, bathrooms, and dormitories are stocked with everything you might need and are kept immaculately clean.
One hour up, you are at the rim of an ancient volcanic crater; one hour down, you are at a natural seaside hot spring.
And it should not go unsaid that Emilie is an exceptionally cool & welcoming hostess ;)

I stayed in tens of coliving spaces around the world, and this is easily one of my favorite ones. I spend one month there and absolutely loved it!
The space is a charming typical Azorean stone house that was recently renovated, and the coworking area is a really bright space with massive windows overlooking the ocean.
Besides having a beautiful garden with lots of plants and palm trees and the barbecue spot overlooking the ocean, it's also really close to the ocean and just a 40 minute hike from the crater rim of Sete Cidades.
Most of all, Emilie is such a gem! She's an extremely hospitable host that truly cares about her guests and makes an effort to connect with every single one of them. She also organized a lot of barbecue nights, dinners and hikes, and is just a joy to spend time with.
My only advice is to book at least a few weeks (or more) so you fully take in the place and the experience it offers.

Arrived to see a beautiful sunset from halfway up a volcano. Greeted by charming hosts Emilie and Karl and a barbecue with fish from the local fisherman that passes twice a week with his catch of the day. Meat trucks and fruit and veg trucks pass weekly as well. Great way to get delicious local produce. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean, facilities were all there. Great feeling of community with other guests. In fact we spent the rest of our holiday touring the island with people from novovento. Cannot recommend enough. My only regret is not spending my entire holiday here. Thanks so much Emilie and Karl for a wonderful stay. Accomodation done the way it should be!!!!
