Yoga means union. Our daily meals together makes union. Our emotional check-ins makes union. Siting around bonfire makes union. Having a bath in the river together makes union. Actually, we are doing yoga everyday in Kalart. Not only asanas. #digitalnomadspain #workfromanywhere #remoteworkspain #colivinglife #slowlivingspain travelcommunity naturecoliving

What is co-creation? Nowadays it’s a buzzword that’s very ethereal. But here we have a down-to-earth exemple. Pizza making is essentially, when it’s done together, a blend of personalities on a dove. It's a magical cooking experience of co-creation. And later enjoyment, of course. PS: by the way, say hello to Guillaume, our swiss new coliver. #digitalnomad #workfromanywhere #remotework #colivinglife #slowliving travelcommunity naturecoliving

Who plant a tree it’s feeding the future. Preparing our medicinal garden using syntropic agriculture principles and permaculture methods. The most important above all: a dedicated team to lead this new garden into its metamorphosis 🤓😍 #coliving #digitalnomad #remotework #workfromanywhere #slowliving #travelcommunity #colivingspain #ruralcoliving #colivingcommunity #digitalnomadspain #remoteworkspain #colivinglife #kalartcommunity #colivingbarcelona #colivingcatalunya #ruralcolivingspain #naturecoliving #slowlivingspain #offgridspain

Gracies!

I stayed at Kalart for a month and had a really refreshing experience! I had a room by the garden with plenty of sunlight and fresh air, which made a big difference to my day-to-day routine. The location is amazing, peaceful and surrounded by nature, a complete contrast to the hectic pace of Barcelona city life. There are lots of natural spots around the property for walks, runs, or even a swim, which makes it easy to stay active. They also provide bicycles, so getting to the nearby town for shopping or a coffee is super convenient. Overall, it’s a calm, laid-back place that’s perfect if you’re looking to slow down, enjoy nature, and reset for a while.

My time at Kalart was truly a transformative period in my life, mostly due to the wonderful people I got to know there. It is a unique place where you can reconnect with nature, your playful side and get out of your comfort zone to learn more about yourself. Be aware that you are expected to play an active role within the community: cleaning tasks, weekly gatherings and shopping/preparing the lunch for the whole group once every 2 to 3 weeks. Especially the lunch can ask some preparation to fit into your schedule when you are also working fulltime (grocery shopping/ cooking/ cleaning) especially if you haven’t cooked for 15 people before. But I do believe this arrangement brings a lot of value to the community experience, and all the other days you can enjoy the food prepared by others. Lunch in that way, was truly a special time for me to connect with everyone and discover new dishes. The location is beautiful, and I haven’t found something like it before. It is right at the entrance of a national park, has a village and river within walking distance and is by train close to cities like Barcelona and Girona. Just keep in mind that getting to the station can add significant to your travel time when you do not have a car. Although most of the time there will be someone willing to take you along by car if they have to pass the station anyways. Another good thing to know is that Kalart has a mix of long term (sometimes 2+ years) and short term residents. You will therefore find here a mix of digital nomads, locals, people with day jobs in the city, travelers, entrepreneurs and everything in between. I think this allows you to learn and connect with people from ‘different bubbles’ so to speak, in a beautiful way. Which is different from most coliving concepts that focus more on temporary ‘digital nomad’ stays, but also from several other ‘community projects’ where the upfront commitments are often times bigger. Most of the time, the long term residents stay in the main house, and short term residents stay in the house next to it down the road. You share the coworking/ lunch/ outside spaces and some activities, and are always more then welcome in the main house, even if you are not staying there, but I do believe that because of this set up, you will get the most out of your experience if you stay here at least 3 months. Just to fully dive into the community experience, and get to know everyone properly. I stayed 6 months total and noticed that every month, the experience would touch me in a slightly different/ deeper way. Go with an open mind and heart, and I’m sure Kalart and its people will bring you something on your journey. Thanks guys for everything!

Kalart is a very nice community, well organised, kind and joyful. The location is great, in the mountains and still conveniently close to the village. I only spent one week as I was visiting a friend and felt very welcome straightaway, I can only imagine how life changing and inspiring it can be to stay for a longer period of time.

I stayed 1 week as a volunteer at Kalart. As others have mentioned in the comments, the location is amazing right next to a national park with hiking trails starting just outside the door. The community is great as it's a mix of long term residents and new people who stay short term as guests. So, there's a variety of points of view and life experiences. My experience as volunteer was short due to the organization needing someone with skills I don't have quite developed. The tasks for the first day of volunteer work included: fixing the gas flow of a stove by replacing the gas valves, building a little wooden stool, chopping enough wood to fill a woodshack under a staircase, fixing another woodshack where the wood was kept in the back, moving some other wood to a different location and tuning up the lighting of the cowork place. It took me most week to complete half the tasks and I needed guidance. So, I recommend for new volunteers to have sharp skills if coming here and be up to speed. As an example of the expectations, I was told I should be able to build a little wooden stool in 15 minutes. It's doable for experienced people I guess. Something to point out is that cleaning is done by everyone who lives in the house (bathrooms included). There's no external cleaning person or crew for cleaning, as far as I know. So, this can be both an exercise of self-sustainability for some people, or an anoying activity for others. Overall, it's a great place to experience a rural coliving that hosts an organic community. It's no utopia but it's real and self-managed, with the limitations that it involves.

I stayed for a month.. the environment is beautiful, surrounded by nature with great hikes, and Roger’s way of organizing things was excellent. However, I found the communication from the founders at times a bit emotionally charged and not always grounded, especially when it came to giving feedback or addressing group matters, which surprised me for a place centered around community and conscious living. At €900 per month, having to clean bathrooms twice a week and cook twice for 10–15 people felt like quite a lot for the price. My room was also next to a busy road - something light sleepers might want to check in advance. What I missed most was a real feedback culture. Even after living there for a month, no one asked for input or reflections, which felt like a missed opportunity to grow together. I also had to follow up myself about the deposit weeks later. It also felt a bit unclear whether Kalart wants to be a genuine community or more of a business. As a short-term guest, it was sometimes harder to integrate, as many residents had already formed a tight group and most activities happened spontaneously. On the positive side, I met some truly like-minded people with whom I’ll definitely stay in touch. Overall, a beautiful place with great potential.
