Coming from the hospitality industry the claim "home away from home" already feels a bit overused. But then there is Homebase. A place that truly, and to be honest for me also unexpectedly, feels like home. It actually gave the word "home" a new meaning for me. What makes this place so special are, without a doubt, the lovely people. There are Lisi & Lucky, who opened Homebase. Lisi really has an eye for detail and it is such a pleasure to discover all the thoughtfull touches inside and outside the house. Whereas Lucky shares lots of insights into Buddhism and the Sri Lankan culture. I truly enjoyed the talks about life and everything in between. And then there are Nilani, Tharu and Lumal. They are not only taking care of the property, making sure everything is clean and running smoothly. Even more so they create this instant feeling of being welcome and well looked after. All five of them put a lot of effort in creating the community at Homebase. Never thought that living with strangers could turn out to be such a wonderful experience. We had spontaneous breakfasts, lunches or dinners together, went to yoga or meditation classes, the beach and other activities. My favourites were the curry nights combined with cooking lessons from the team and some local events Nilani invited us to. On top of the great atmosphere Homebase provides fully equipped kitchens (we were allowed to use spices, oils, etc.), filtered water! (no need to carry water bottles home) and even the laundry detergent for the washing machine. I am so happy that I got to stay there for almost 7 weeks and can only recommend it to anyone, who is looking for accommodation in Hiriketiya. What's still left to say: I miss home!

Lisi & Lucky are the best! I stayed here for a whole month at their place – and from day one, it felt like home. Homebase is so much more than just a place to stay – it’s a real, small community that feels like family. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the overall vibe is warm, safe, and inspiring. As a guest, you also benefit from Lisi’s amazing creativity: she organized everything from visits to a local school to curry cooking nights, skill shares, and art workshops – beautiful experiences that bring people together and are a beautiful way to learn about life in Sri Lanka. And let’s not forget: Lucky is the best surf teacher in all of Hiriketiya! 🏄‍♂️ If you're looking for a space to connect, grow, and feel at home – this is it. Will come back soon! 🧡

Homebase was my first co-living experience, and what an experience it was... I had the privilege and honour to call this place my home for an entire month. Homebase is a true factory for creating unforgettable memories, from the friendliness and openness of the guests, to the genuine dedication and kindness of the staff; shout out to Nilani, Tharu and Lumal, you are truly inspiring humans and I’m so grateful our paths crossed; and obviously the marvellous creators and owners of this place, Lisi and Lucky. These two authentic souls have established something truly special and unique here, thanks to their hard work, passion, and wholesomeness. Not only Homebase is a place to stay and work, with comfortable bedrooms, a cosy workspace and fast internet, but it’s also a place to connect, share and learn. If you’re keen on trying Sri Lankan food, or love it already, the Saturday curry nights will be your blast. If you’re seeking inspiration and networking, the skillshare sessions will bring you just that. Not to mention endless other activities and events which will be right at your door. No I wasn’t paid to write this review (also didn’t use Chat GPT :P), this is genuine and this is what you get. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this unforgettable stay and all the precious moments spent together 🫶 Keep the Homebase going and growing, it’s an absolute gem!

Where do I start? What started as a coincidental accommodation option (to escape a horrible room) turned into one of my best decisions during my 6 weeks in Sri Lanka. Homebase really feels like a home. From the kind and attentive staff (that feel more like family), to the guests that feel like your long term housemates. Lisi and Lucky have built something really special. The curry night is a MUST for anyone - even if you aren’t staying here. I am so grateful that I got to live here and make forever friends. I can’t find one single fault. Lisi and Lucky are the kindest people you’ll meet and they’ve truly succeeded in making you feel “home” even when you’re not in your home country. Thank you both!

Loved this place and highly recommend it! As a solo traveler working remotely, it was ideal for me. Nice rooms, laundry, co-working, walkable to everything. I felt super taken care of by the staff and it's easy to make friends and build a community here.

I stayed here 10 days. It is in a very good location. You can easily walk every morning to the beach for surfing :) The service and communication is 10/10. If you‘re a solo traveller you will meet a lot of new friends!

I love the Homebase! it's conveniently located, the house is very cozy and all the rooms are clean with AC! Liz and Lucky are super cool and the staff are all so helpful. I did laundry once and the cleaning staff voluntarily hung everything and folded them neatly and left them by my door, she also found my missing shoe taken by the dogs ! It's a great place to meet people, given the smaller and intimate setting! Highly recommend!

I have been to +15 colivings and I stayed here for some days, I love the coliving and 100% recommend! Every detail is taken care of. From dehumidifiers to free shampoo or 3 towels per person. Coworking is great and the connection works perfectly, even without power we still had wifi. Only place in Sri Lanka I saw this. The team is wonderful, always with a smile and preparing awesome activities for the community. It is a beutiful home and base.

As soon as I arrived at Homebase, I started planning my return there! The name really says it all. It feels like having a Homebase in a far away place. My room was super cozy. And the comfortable coworking space had great Internet and lots of different places to sit and work. It feels like home, where you can hang out in the kitchen and talk to your housemates and make plans to hang out later. It’s in a great location — it’s peacefully not in the center of the action but still just a quick walk from the middle of everything! Finally, the owners and staff are so kind and helpful and ready right away with whatever you need.

This coliving space is AMAZING! Location - 5 minute walk to the beach, close to all restaurants / shops Staff - so so welcoming, very friendly and helpful with anything we needed. Even made us local coffee some mornings! Coworking - some of the best WiFi we’ve had in Sri Lanka, and a really nice coworking area with comfy office chairs Accommodation - decent size rooms, we stayed in the room with a shared bathroom and it was great. Room had aircon and a fan which was great. Rooms with private bathrooms look bigger and to have bigger beds so if you want more comfort/ privacy opt for this. Free drinking water, a full working kitchen with tea / coffee available to all, free laundry!! Overall could not recommend this place enough, whether you’re working away or just on holiday this place is a great place to stay!

I loved staying in Homebase during my travels in Sri Lanka. I've tried different accommodations around Hiri, but Homebase was really something special. The whole house is super clean, the facilities are great especially if you're planning to stay longer and searching for a work station during your travels but it's also great for short stays. One of the things I really appreciated was washing machine included in the price, the laundry room are so expensive so having it available in the house is a huge plus. There's spacious kitchen, warm shower, AC in the rooms,... Upstairs you can find desks with really comfortable chairs and fast internet. The vibe in the house is really warm and welcoming. The stuff have the kindest smiles and hearts. They make sure you feel at home and get what you need. Staying there made me feel like I'm a part of family which is a huge plus for me. The location is also very convenient since everything is within walking distance. You can get to the beach within 7 minutes so if you need to carry your board it's not a big hustle at all. I really loved it and would definitely recommend it ❤️

Wir haben 8 Nächte im Homebase verbracht und könnten über unseren Aufenthalt nicht glücklicher sein. Das Homebase hat sich für uns wirklich wie ein Zuhause angefühlt. Die Zimmer sind wunderschön eingerichtet und es steht alles zur Verfügung was man benötigt. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Zudem konnte man sie bei Fragen oder Anliegen jederzeit kontaktieren. Das Haus und der Garten sind sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und gestaltet, die Küche sehr gut ausgestattet. Es ist der perfekte Ort um Zeit in Hiriketiya zu verbringen. In der Nähe des Strandes, viele Restaurants, Bars in der Umgebung aber dennoch der perfekte ruhige Rückzugsort. Danke für diesen tollen Aufenthalt, wir haben es sehr genossen und uns sehr willkommen gefühlt.
