In case you hadn’t heard, we got SO MUCH SNOW

There was much falling over (mainly Hannah), getting stuck in hip deep pow, ending the day exhausted and very much deserving our pints in the pub!
Torran (obviously) ended up just as sick off piste on a snowboard as he is on skis
We are reopening in June! 🥳
Come and join us and experience the mountains in one of their most specific state - when the snow still clings to the highest peaks, summer tiptoes through the valleys and spring is bursts into life. The trails are quiet, the nature buzzing and enjoy it all before the crowds arrive.

This place was full of outdoorsy adventure-seekers, alpinists, hikers, bikers, and all-around great human beings.
We went for so many gorgeous hikes & outdoor adventures!
I learned how to do via Ferrata — it means “the way of iron”. You wear a climbing harness and clip in to a set route to climb the mountains.
We had epic aperos, family dinners, watched the Olympics & the World Climbing Finals, and went for cold plunges.

I stayed at Cloud Citadel recently and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a great co‑living experience in the Alps. The place has a really unique atmosphere: it’s structured enough that everything runs smoothly, but relaxed enough that it still feels social and welcoming rather than like a hotel.
What stood out the most is the community. From the moment you arrive it’s easy to meet people—whether you’re sharing breakfast, cooking dinner together, or heading out for activities in the area. There’s a great mix of residents, and conversations around the dinner table or in the common areas happen naturally. It felt genuinely collaborative rather than forced “networking”.
The space itself is thoughtfully set up for coliving. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, and the shared spaces are clearly designed for both work and downtime. It’s easy to focus during the day but also just as easy to unwind in the evening. Everything is clean, functional, and practical for longer stays.
Another highlight is the location. Being in the Hautes‑Alpes means you’re surrounded by incredible scenery and outdoor options. Whether you’re into skiing, hiking, climbing, or just getting out into the mountains, it’s the perfect base. After a day outside, coming back to a place where people are cooking, chatting, and sharing recommendations for the next adventure is a huge plus.
Finally, the hosts and organization deserve credit. The communication, booking process, and overall vibe show that a lot of care goes into making this work as an actual community, not just accommodation.
Overall, Cloud Citadel strikes an excellent balance between community, comfort, and adventure. If you’re looking for a coliving spot in the Alps where you can meet interesting people, stay productive, and enjoy the mountains, it’s a fantastic choice.

By far one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Been there 3 times. Summer, autumn, winter and soon again in spring. That place works in every season.
The house is cut perfectly. Sleeping areas are on the first and 3rd floor with plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen, dinning room, living room, working rooms are all located on the 2nd floor. That's just genius. You step on the 2nd floor and on the left you have a beautiful kitchen and on the right a big dining room. One more step and you get into a cozy living room. One more and you have two big working rooms (one silent and one where you can talk). After that it's a full circle. It feels so efficient and natural that you almost don't appreciate until you go anywhere else and it feels something is missing.
All that is nothing compared to the owners. They are the real deal. A young and friendly couple, that really cares about that place and it's guests in every possible way. They would cook dinner for the whole house, organise events in and out of the house and act immediately on any feedback they get.
They manage to create an atmosphere where people truly bond and create lasting friendships.
It was hard to leave the place every single time.

Book it, don’t think even about it, this is the ultimate peaceful work retreat and coliving community. The photos completely undersell it, the space is super relaxing and in a beautiful area with walks, climbs, runs, via ferreta, skiing, river swimming etc. all within easy reach.
Jelena and Joel are incredibly welcoming and fun, its hard not to enjoy yourself or laugh when you are around them. And because its in the mountains it attracts an active and healthy community. I was worried it was going to be full of yoga gurus, digital nomad bros and cacao and ecstatic dance events but it was full of the most amazing down to earth people I’ve ever met.
I booked for 1 month and I wish I booked for longer, I suggest you do the same as it gets booked up quick.

Stayed here for a month and a half and quite enjoyed it. The location and views can’t be beat - phenomenal views of alps from each of the rooms I stayed in. Kitchen was fairly well equipped, but definitely due for a fresh round of pans as previous colivers had worn the current ones out with misuse. There was a great community of people there that all did activities together, shared meals, and looked out for each other. My only real disappointment was with the volunteers that were left in charge when the owners went away for a month. They were very young and immature, and often were the ones breaking the noise rules instead of enforcing them, more than once partying with loud music until 3am during weekdays. It may have just been the group that was there when I was, but it was definitely more of a party-in-the-alps vibe than I cared for.
Edited to add:
Jelena did reach out to apologize, and clarified that her intent has always been to keep Cloud Citadel from being a party house, so I think it was mostly just bad luck of timing and personalities. I will certainly be going back, and highly recommend that anyone reading this does so, as well!

It’s hard to have the world to define all this experience in Cloudcitadel!
If you want to live an amazing experience with WONDERFUL people and share a lot of activities with them : via ferrata, climbing, cooking, reading, swimming in glaciers water, make a born fired and dancing around, teaching & learning a lot of thinks (money management, Viking style, etc…), joking, learning English/French and an other language, working, have theme party (UV light, birthday party, etc…), play at secret Hitler and discover you by the way !!
All these activities are proposed by people who stay here and came be organise also thanks to Joe et Jelena which the amazing owners of Cloudcitadel. They are very active in the coliving and suggest a lot of things : ski touring, climbing initiation, swimming in lake, hiking, etc… They are very chill and I have deep conversion with them. For exemple, Jelena cooked a matcha latte on the afternoon and Joe organize a mastermind about the life. All the discussions about this mastermind explained the reason what we were there all together at this moment of our life.
I have created strong bonds with all the people of the house and I know I will meet them again (maybe again in cloudcitadel this summer) !!!

- A genuine/strong sense of community (the best part)
- Located in one of the best mountain areas in Europe

- Plenty of space in the rooms and common areas, a very well equipped kitchen and a clean house

As short as was my stay, I had time to feel at home and welcomed. The place is great: Joé and Jelena made it comfy, perfect for work and for community life at the same time. On top of it, Briançon is a beautiful city surrounded by nature, with plenty of outdoors activities nearby (I went during winter season and could enjoy skiing, fat biking, sledging and such). It’s an amazing spot to enjoy the French Alps!

I booked, hoping I would be skiing every day, but because of Covid, all lifts were closed. Despite not being able to do what I came for, I still had the time of my life. This place is fantastic and every single person during the 3 months I spent here were amazing. I knew nobody when I came, but I made friendships that will last a lifetime.
Especially the area where Cloud Citadel is located is beautiful, and the nature and surroundings are astonishing. And it's almost always sunny in Briançon! The house is nice, clean and tidy. The kitchen works well, the coworking area is great, and so are the rest of the facilities. High speed internet for us remote workers.
When not working, every hour was filled with adventures, interesting conversations and laughter. There is so much to do in the area, no matter if you want to take it easy or go for the challenges. This place is unique, and you owe it to yourself to check it out. I have already booked next winter, one year in advance.

How can I even start? I came to Cloud Citadel to visit a friend for 2 weeks. I enjoyed this place so much that I ended up staying for 2 months. This place is simply a paradise, a haven of peace and great vibes !! ☀️🏵️🌸 and it's a blessing during such weird covid times.
On top of being in the best location of the Alps (so great hiking, climbing and skiing, and the most beautiful blue sky ever: I've seen no more than three days of clouds!!!), Joé and Jelena have created a place that feels just like home, and even better. This house is full of light, music and laughs. It's cosy and warm, all rooms are really beautifully decorated, the kitchen is great and everyone can cook and dance at the same time. The view from all bedrooms is stunning, I miss my cloud citadel mornings so much since I'm back in grey Paris. I've met incredibly kind and radiating people, that have become true friends. We shared such unique moments, adventures and crazy parties together. This experience will stay in my memory and in my heart forever. See you soon, guys, thank you so much... Cloud CItadel is the place to be, period.
I booked for 10days mid-december for the opening of the season, I extended and I left on the 2nd of may, I already booked for next winter season and I will be back in the summer. I think it says a lot.
Jelena and Joé created a place where you feel at home, and where the magic happened. During these 4months and a half I met people with different backgrounds and we built enriching relationships which is why almost everybody kept extended like me their stays.
We were inside our little bubble of happiness while the rest of the world have to deal with isolation due to covid.
Despite the ski lifts being closed we enjoyed the mountains with multiple outdoor activities during the week-end, without forgetting the indoor activities while there was curfew at 6pm and all shops and restaurants closed, you will always find people to propose new ideas to have fun and quality time together. In terms of facilities it's perfect, you are in this little cocoon inside the old citadel of Briançon, the views from the rooms and the common areas (coworking, chill room, dining room) are just astonishing. The kitchen is well equipped and big enough to have everyone cooking and enjoying thec"apero". During this winter I enjoyed the market 2 times per week with surprisingly a wide diversity of foods (local, indian, chinese, thaï, créole, italian) I can not wait to see the city in normal life with all the shops, bars and restaurants open.

Cloud citadel was my first ever coliving experience and I've LOVED it. I originally booked for 1 month to escape Paris during lockdown and finally ended up staying 2 months because I felt so much at home that I didn't want to leave 🥰
Let's start with the house : it's gorgeous. The rooms are cosy and bright, some of them are bigger than a Parisian flat! The common areas are super clean and well decorated. The coworking spaces are well equipped and the internet connexion is super fast.
Now, the community : we shared so many great moments that we created a true sense of togetherness. We organized a lot of indoor/outdoor activities (climbing, hiking, Via ferratas, ski touring and so many more). Cloud citadel is the perfect place for people who are looking for a quiet spot to work while having fun and sharing meaningful moments with fellow remote workers.
And finally, the hosts : Jelena and Joé did an amazing job creating a place where everybody feels welcome and accepted as a member a the family! They have an incredible mindset and they gladly shared their time and experience with us.

There are not enough words of positivity that I can find to describe what was 3 of the most memorable months of my life (Jan to April 2021). Even now I cannot believe how I was lucky to discover Cloud Citadel. It is a truly unique place, a warm, friendly, active, welcoming and inclusive community modelled perfectly on the style and culture embodied by the hosts/owners Jelena and Joey and both of this years Volunteers, Victor and Maria.
The weekly family meeting to plan out the activities driven by the guests includes everything from mountain activities, to family meals, themed parties, board games, karaoke and skill share session from fascinating and skilled house mates.
The décor, style and character of the place is charming, homely and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. This place has set the standard by which I will forever measure all co-living, co-working locations.
On top of all of this, it is in Alps!! Located in the beautiful and historic town of Briancon and part of the Serre Chevalier Ski resort, it was an utterly charming and charismatic place that has lost none of its French Charisma, epitomised by the bi-weekly market trips to stock up on local produce and delicacies.
I came here for the Snow and the Ski, the French Govt (& Covid) stopped that, but I have re-booked for next year because of the Community and the People that I know make this the best co-living, co-working experience I have ever had.

The place is amazing! It's a massive renovated old house on top of the mountain, but still accessible, with a stunning view of the valley, the rooms are cozy, warm and decorated with wonderful taste.
The location is perfect, crazy good weather, we had 98% sun in three months... close to shops and most of all to every mountain activity you can dream of! Even a SPA with outside hot springs to relax on Sunday 😜
But Cloud Citadel is also a beautiful community of people, inspiring, respectful, sharing good values, and it was super fun time. We were able to tackle a lot of work if needed but still have this holiday camp vibe, so great! 😉
Jelena and Joé on top of being two of the nicest people I know are playing a big part on keeping the place dynamic by organizing family meeting where everyone shares skills, and we plan activities for the week, ski, fat bike, cross-country, via ferrata, hikes, family dinner, movie nights, game nights, ... you never get bored 😁
It was totally one of our best coliving experience. We made friends, we had a fantastic time, we'll be back for sure!!! ✨

Where can I even start ? This place is amazing! I came for 2 months and ended up extending as much as possible, as did everyone else. So from that perspective make sure you book in advance. Cloud Citadel is an incredible place. We had activities every week and a family meeting on Mondays to plan everything, ski touring, climbing, via ferrata, hikes, quizzes, skill shares etc. striking a great balance between having fun and being productive. The family dinners every Saturday were amazing also because we got to spend even more time together. I was lucky to meet some incredible people and to create some really strong bonds. Also Jelena and Joe were the absolute best hosts. They are kind and caring and they do their best to make sure everyone feels at home and is enjoying the time spent there! The place is really clean and super well organized. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back as it was a really memorable experience! Thanks again for everything.

This coliving is just perfect! We came as a couple and originally booked a room for 2 months… we ended up staying for 3! Travellers for a few years, we had the chance to try a lot of different colivings before. And I have to say: this one is without any doubt one of the best you could find! As a digital nomad, it is sometimes hard to feel like home in the places you visit. Well, not in Cloud Citadel! The house is just so cosy! The light, the spaces, the style, the rooms, the town… everything is made for you to feel comfortable. The coworking space is one of a kind! The view is STUNNING, the chairs are ergonomic, the internet fast, and there is a very cute fireplace. You are really able to focus on your work there and get a lot done! But what makes this coliving very special is the community. The weekly family meeting makes a huge different: you get to know people very quickly & organise many activities: dog sledding, ski touring, hiking, fat biking… but also indoor activities such as board game nights or skillshares. The people we met there are so inspirational and open minded! We truly bonded, which is sometimes hard to do when you travel a lot! And if you are not French and you are worried about that… don’t be! Everyone is so welcoming that we only speak English (unless you want to learn French or any other languages that other people might speak!). Finally, special thanks to Jelena and Joé of course, the owners, who I believe are friends now! They care deeply about how every single guest feel in the house, and are very involved in their project, which will make your stay unforgettable!

The place is beautifully decorated and the working space with the fireplace made my day on most cold winter days. In the coliving I had the chance to meet inspiring and open minded people that are always up to try the many activities that you can do in Briançon and around - ski, ice/rock climbing, ice skating, via ferrata, mountain biking, hiking, dog sledging etc. You will never run out of things to do here.

Cloud Citadel regroupe avec brio dortoir et chambres décorées avec goût, espaces communs chaleureux et bureaux aménagés (avec Wi-Fi haut débit et cheminée 🔥). Pour ne rien gâcher, le lieu situé au cœur de Briancon est exposé sud et permet d’admirer les montagnes depuis chaque pièce.
Un seul conseil : ne faites pas la même erreur que moi et réserver plus qu’une semaine ! Pour rencontrer les autres colivers et profiter des différentes activités de la région (en hiver : ski, rando, thermes ; en été : escalade, rando, via ferrata) plusieurs semaines (voir mois) ne sont pas de trop 😉.

Extraordinary coliving house in the midst of the Alps. It is simply impressive what Jelena and Joé have built. The house is full of soul, located inside the old fortress of Briançon, equipped with a huge, beautiful kitchen, cozy shared spaces, and two coworking areas with good views of the mountains and even a fireplace. Rooms are incredible and well-thought - including the japanese-inspired dorm where I stayed.
There is a welcoming, super-active and passionate community of co-workers. I managed to get a lot of work done while also enjoying skillshare sessions, ski touring trips, movies, boardgame nights, cooking, wine tasting...
As for location, it doesn't get better than that. This region of the Alps is blessed with an inexplicably good weather. The Massif des Écrins is a paradise for hikers, climbers, cyclers and skiers, and Briançon itself is a remarkable historical city. I was in the house for 1.5 months and that was not enough. I will come back for sure.

Cloud Citadel is the perfect place to be active and work remotely. There are lots of opportunities to socialize, but also to have privacy. Jelena and Joey, the hosts, will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Guests were friendly and active, and we organized daily activities together, such as skiing, rock climbing, hikes, and shopping trips. The house is large and very comfortable with different spaces to co-work and socialize. The hosts organized several events like family meals, movie/board game nights, pub quizzes and picnics, which made the stay very interesting.
The house is located a few minutes’ walk to Briançon’s city center and the Serre Chevalier ski resort. It is possible to walk to Serre Chevalier in the morning, have a nice snowboarding session and be back to the house in the afternoon to work. It is also possible to rock climb all year long in literally thousands of routes within 30 minutes’ drive from the house. The types of rock and routes are varied and suitable for all levels of rock climbers. There are countless hikes and areas for ski touring nearby. Other popular activities are trail running, biking, paragliding, kayaking, rafting and snow kiting. There is also a nice crag and via ferrata about only 15-20 minutes’ walk from the house.
I had an amazing stay at Cloud Citadel and I will definitely come back.

A fantastic mountain coliving/ coworking in a beautiful part of the Alps. During winter I was able to walk to the ski lifts but as my stay extended into Spring the surroundings were just as good for mountain biking and climbing.

What was supposed to be a one month stay quickly turned into 4 months and counting :). When countries were starting to announce that they were about to lock down in March 2020, I knew there was no reason for me to try to go anywhere else. You have everything you could possibly need here. The surroundings are breathtaking. Amazing paths for hiking or MTB riding, climbing routes are a 20 min drive away in any direction, and snow/ski in winter has been loads of fun here, with plenty of runs just 12 min away on foot. So yes, if you want nature, you have it all here, but even just hanging out at the house has been such a nice experience. The internet is top notch, real office chairs in the co-working space and I don't even know where to begin when talking about the hosts.
Look at these two :D that's Jelena and Joey, model co-livers, always thinking about nice things to do for the rest of the community here. Whether it's making crêpes on Sunday morning or organizing countless group activities, you can tell that they genuinely enjoy doing this stuff and spending time with you. Thank you guys for welcoming me with open arms and putting up with me for longer than anyone should ever need to haha >:D<
Oh, and I cannot end this review without mentioning Tom. Oh man :)) Tom. He is part of the staff here at the house and one of the most delightful humans I have ever met. 2 weeks in cloud citadel and more to come, we've been there in winter time and we cannot wait to also experience it in the summer time. We've had enough time to ski in the morning or have a hike to the mountain right behind the citadel, and then get back to work for lunch time.
About the internet, I need a proper download/upload because of my work, and it was really good, we were often 7-10 ppl at the same time and never felt any downtime. the beds are awesome, the shared bathroom are not an issue as I never had to wait to use them, ok maybe once... ! :D

They renovated a beautiful old military house inside the citadel of Briançon with gorgeous views over the whole valley and the mountains... This place is really special and I can't wait to come back and see how it will look like in a few months (the house was not completely finished in January)
Here are a few things I really loved about cloud citadel:
- The workspace is super nice... Never had such a beautiful mountain view while working before.
- The kitchen is huuuggeee and very well equipped which is in my opinion very important for a coliving.
- The place is simply a nature paradise in one of the most beautiful area of France. As we were there in winter, we went skiing and snowshoe hiking a lot. But if you come in summer, you will be able to go hiking, climbing, rafting and so much more...
- The people we met there were coming from all over the world. It was really great to spend some time with such a diverse and passionate community. That's really what coliving is all about for us!

Honestly we can't recommend this place enough and we are already considering coming back in autumn to hike and enjoy the landscapes when the larch trees become orange.
