The best part of my stay at El Mundito was definitely the people. Guests and volunteers were amazing, warm and lovely.
Unfortunately, the physical condition of the place doesn't quite match what's shown in photos or on social media. Many things were visibly broken, like the floor in the room and some furniture, and the common areas were consistently dirty. I ended up cleaning up dust and trash myself multiple times just to be able to use the space or work from my laptop. Other guests were doing the same in the kitchen. We asked the owner for help with cleaning but didn't get any support.
During my stay I also experienced recurring issues with electricity and water. There were times we had no power or water for multiple days in a row, and this happened almost every week. On those days, several of us, myself included, had to find somewhere else to work remotely. No refund, compensation, or solution was offered, so we ended up paying extra.
Reaching out to the owner was also difficult. Responses often only happened the next day no matter how urgent the problem was, which made it really hard to handle things as they came up.
I had originally planned to stay for a few months, but the experience became exhausting and I decided to leave earlier than planned.

I stayed here for a month, and unfortunately my experience was quite different from how the place is presented in the photos and online description. While the location is nice in the sense that it is close to the sea, the property is also surrounded by constant loud construction noise and heavy traffic noise starting early in the morning.
The rooms had mold, and overall the place often felt unclean. The house itself is quite old and seemed to have frequent issues with basic utilities such as water and electricity, beyond the occasional service interruptions you might normally expect in Puerto.
Another major issue was that problems were not addressed in a timely manner. There were regular disruptions with water and electricity, while at the same time the owner often hosted excessive late-night parties, was frequently very drunk, shouting, and generally disturbing for guests. As a result, important maintenance issues were not resolved promptly, and the property remained in poor condition.
For guests working online, this was especially difficult, as people often had to leave and search for places with stable Wi-Fi. I would not recommend it to any digital nomad for sure. The kitchen was usually dirty unless guests cleaned it themselves, and the fridge was never properly cleaned but it was moldy and honestly quite unpleasant to use.
I did make good friends during my stay. Still, it was disappointing to encounter such a lack of professionalism, as well as poor attention to basic maintenance and cleanliness. In the end, I was relieved to move on.

I lived at Mundito for 6 months and it was a great experience. Between the cool restaurants and bars of la Punta and the clubs and party from Zicatela, it is well located at the heart of the chill Tamarindos area.
During my stay there, I met over 30 travelers from different parts of the world. Everybody was superfriendly and chill, I became good friends with most of them and even met people whom made it into my heart and will be long life lasting relationships for me. This was a complete game changer during my stay in Puerto. I was able to experience incredible adventures and lots of fun with pretty cool people. I made a family at Mundito. I felt at home there.
I highly recommend this place for anybody who's looking to live in a chill and cool place, very well located and is looking to meet other fellow travelers/digital nomads.

Mundito was my home for 5 months and I had such a special time. Living within a few minutes of the beach was non negotiable for me so Mundito is just perfect.
Perfectly located between the beach, La Punta and Zicatela with tiendas, public pool, the collectivo and restaurants all so close. You want bar vibes? Head left. You want a club? Head right.
Lovely to be able to work outside and hang out with everyone. I couldn't be happier with my housemates. Strangers become family 💓 unmatched vibes 🤩

I spent the most amazing month at El Mundito over Christmas and New Year. My room was beautiful with plenty of space to work, as well as the co-working space outside which I loved. But what made my stay so incredible were the people there - we had so much fun and I was truly sad when it was time to leave. Hanna looked after us so well and is fantastic at building community and making us feel at home. Needless to say I'll be back!

What a beautiful and welcoming community! My boyfriend and I stayed in mundito for a month, and Hannah (the host) was always checking in with us to make sure we were having a good stay 🤗
This is a great place to meet friendly and interesting people from all around the world 🌎🌍
The accomodations are rustic and right in the middle of nature, so be aware that there will be bugs! 😉
The option to have AC is available, and that's a big plus for the very hot Puerto weather 🌡️
The beautiful and abundant shade from the trees and the short walk to most main beaches in Puerto makes this a great option to stay too!

Stayed at Mundito for a month and some change. The place attracted me because I was looking for community, and community is what I found. While I was there the place felt like home, with someone always around to have a nice or interesting conversation with. Hanna tries to organize or prompt events almost weekly, and that really adds to the fun and the comfortable feeling you get. I met really cool people, and made good friends. I was working remotely, and while there are occasional power outages (many outside the control of the property) they were manageable and didn't affect my work. Give Mundito a try, you'll meet pretty cool people in a pretty cool town.

I stayed at El Mundito for 40 days and it was truly an incredible experience. The atmosphere immediately makes you feel at home, and the people I met there were simply amazing. I was working remotely during my stay, and being able to surf almost every day was a dream come true.
The location is also perfect: there are little convenience shops just around the corner for all the basics, and you can easily walk to both Zicatela and La Punta.
Thank you, El Mundito family, for these unforgettable moments — I’ll carry them with me wherever I go!

The house needs some serious love and care, there was a big mold problem when I was there the solution paint over it. There were some very nice volunteers there but much less of a coliving community then other places in puerto. Not one person extended their stay while I was there. The kitchen is really bad basically a shed. Also many of the instagram post are just old videos not people actually staying there now. Not sure where these other reviewers were staying but it feels like a different planet.

We loved our stay in el Mundito! When me and my boyfriend arrived, we felt home immediatly! It is located in Tamarindos, a very lovely neighborhood in Puerto Escondido between La Punta and Zicatela. The garden is nicely decorated with lost of trees, and different area's to sit. From the rooftop you can watch a beautiful sunset! Or from the beach, that is only a few meters away! The rooms are very nice and you feel Hanna put a lot of attention and care in decorating them. Once a week, they clean your room... that always felt like a little present. I would highly recommend to stay here! It's a great start of your Puerto adventure when you are welcomed by the mundito family! :)

Wonderful coliving space and community. I spent a little over a month in El Mundito and loved my time there. It’s such a good community of people coming to Puerto Escondito from all over the world and Hannah was a wonderful host. The outdoor space is a great spot to hang out and socialize. The location super close to the beach and a short walk down to La Punta.
The rooms themselves are decent sized and have the basics of what you need. No A/C in most of the rooms but the provided fans to a decent job of keeping the rooms tolerable. I had no issues with the WiFi and it was totally suitable to work from.

Thank you Hannah and the whole El Mundito Community for a wonderful stay in Puerto Escondido.
The Co-Living Hannah created is made for finding new friends, it’s super close to the beach and people who stay there take care of each other. I really appreciated that ☀️
The only bad thing about is was that my time there was way to short! I’ll come back for sure. Highlight: Sunset from the rooftop and the perfect place between la punta and Zicatella.
Hannah helped me with finding a scooter, making sure I feel well taken care of all the time.
THANK YOU! And see you soon ☀️☘️

Loved my month at El Mundito! Hanna knows how to create a great community and vibes. The outdoor kitchen is spacious and functional and plenty of space to hang out in hammocks in the garden/court yard. The rooms are a good size and there's a desk and chair to work at. The internet would cut out sometimes during calls but works very well for any other type of work you might do online and there is a very dependable co-working spot 20 minute walk away if you need it. There are two pups who live at mundito as well who love cuddles. its a 3 min walk to the beach, right in-between the two big areas of Puerto and 10 minute walk to the Zicatela market and other grocery stores. Also has a little store right around the corner which as fruits and veggies. El Mundito is a great place to base yourself in Puerto! thank you mundito and thank you hanna :)

Volunteer lifespan they use for their hard work is no more then 1-2 weeks maximum. They are placed in a dirty “cave” with zero facilities nearby. It’s all about free labor exploitation. The girl running the place shouts at all her volunteers when something doesn’t go 100% her way. She kicks out volunteers while they are with high fever on bed…. I offered to pay for it, asked the price, but she didn’t want to hear it.
Don’t count too much on the WiFi connection BTW (during rain season)!
*I can’t comment on the comment, but let me put clear here, that it are sad attempts to refute my review with the wildest lies! “Newly painted”, “choose freely”, “difficult attitude”, “disrespectfully” 😂 Please stop. I can’t stop laughing! Which kitchen?! Which facilities? The rudeness you bark with to volunteers also….

If you wanna get the full Puerto Escondio experience "El MunDito" is the best place to live it. Rooms are clean and spacious but above all this MunDito became home, at MunDito I met my family, my closest friend, friends of life and is the place that gave me the best experiences and laughs of my entire life.
