What an awesome place

As a solo traveller and remote worker, Co404 San Cris has offered such a beautiful change of pace. The volunteer team, Ani & Kathi, Santi & Alux are so helpful and welcoming. You get access to all the amenities a remote worker is looking for, a beautiful garden and terrace but also warmth and feeling of community. There are lots of opportunities to connect through organised events and family dinners and just spending time in the garden/terrace.

I spent a week in Co404 and it ended up feeling like not enough time. I immediately felt comfortable and at home, better yet, more productive than at home but also had a good reason to get up and out of the desk. It was lovely connecting with the individuals staying there including the volunteers. They made my time exploring the city more interesting and fun. The rooms are well equipped for longer stays and the beds are very comfortable! I wish I sent more time in the garden and rooftop. Cant wait to go back!

This coliving is one of the best I’ve stayed in! Such a beautiful, peaceful setting with a great coworking space and areas for socialising and relaxing! Co404 has a knack for building community and everyone is welcome! As a solo traveler I instantly felt welcome and made some great friends. I highly recommend and I will 100% stay on my next visit to San Cris. Big love to Santi and the volunteers for making it so awesome!

Activities (daily/weekly) hosted by volunteers / others guests (morning yoga, mid-day workout, family dinners, food/culture tours, hikes/excursions, etc.) really fosters community and sets this colive experience apart from others. ~Shoutout to the volunteers, house/groundskeepers and community manager who truly transform this space into a beautiful home every day! 10/10 would recommend if you're planning a stay in SanCris!

As a digital nomad, I look for a few basic necessities when traveling: hot water, reliable wifi, and privacy for work calls. Co 404 meets all of these requirements, and the atmosphere they offer is so welcoming, it ends up feeling like a second home. The volunteers are great, and their energy and the activities they offer foster a sense of community for all.

Already spent more than 4months here and will keep coming back to this beautiful CL with the best community you can imagine :)

There are plenty of activities arranged by the volunteers and San Cristobal is a beautiful town full of culture and close to the nature.

I stayed here for the whole month of May with my dog, Daisy. It was a fantastic experience, and I plan to come back. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I had a private room with a private bathroom. The space is well-thought-out, from the coworking area to the kitchen, garden for yoga and rooftop. The community was wonderful, as were the activities and weekend outings. I worked remotely from this location for the whole month; the internet was good, and I had no issues getting work done. This location was also a great stop to travel with my dog; I did lots of hiking around San Cris and the staff were able to get me in touch with tour guides that allow for pups to come along. Overall, I would highly recommend Co404 San Cristóbal.

Stayed here for a month, beautiful cowork space and loved sitting up in the treehouse watching sunsets as the clouds roll by. Gorgeous garden and a short walk to the main market. Good to have a group to see San Cris's live music, nature outings and campfire. You really build a good community here

I am hesitant to write this review, as the community and location of Co404 was pleasant. However, there are critical issues that potential guests need to be aware of. Upon arrival, we were promptly warned by a volunteer about the health risks due to the water quality: "Oh, you are going to get very sick here because of the water." This comment underlined the broader public health concerns tied to the town's water issues. For context, the documentary "Mexico's Deadly Coca-Cola addiction" offers insight into this. The town lacks the necessary infrastructure resulting in raw sewage contaminating local waterways and ending up as the tap water you will use to shower, wash dishes, etc. Given these severe environmental concerns and their obvious awareness of it, I believe Co404 should take more robust measures to protect the well-being of its guests, such as installing water filtration systems throughout the property. The importance of this cannot be overstated, especially considering the premium price of the stay. My experience was significantly impacted by these issues. Trying to work remotely while very sick was not great for me or my partner and this situation was not unique to us; most guests were sick or had gotten sick, some multiple times. I know of at least one person that is still dealing with prolonged side effects months after. On top of that skin issues from the water quality aren't uncommon. We ended up leaving two weeks into our planned month-long stay due to this problem, and were only partially refunded. This policy compounded our frustration and sense of unfairness, a sentiment echoed by other guests who also decided to leave early due to this problem. Despite the enjoyable events, the health risks currently overshadow the benefits. I hope this review serves as a call to action for necessary changes to ensure the safety and well-being of all guests. If you must go to Co404 I’d recommend the Oaxaca location to avoid this issue altogether. I wish they had been transparent about this water problem when I asked them which location to choose prior to my booking. Last thing, if you're already there and you're already sick make sure you get lab tested at a place like Diagnosur instead of taking the first medication doctors throw at you. Antibiotic resistance is off the charts in this part of Chiapas because of the issues mentioned above.

Wow this place is just amazing. A home away from home like no other. The owners have put their heart and soul into this place and it shows even in how the plants grow. Everyone who works there is amazingly friendly and this was a great place to stay for fun and also for working. I basically only left to save up some money to go back! 10/10

If you travel alone and are looking for a community Co404 is great! But the second house they have, called "Agave" is unfortunately no comparison. Not worth the money, compared to other offers in town or the main house. Bathroom is outside, kitchen is not well equipped and the garden area is taken less care of, compared to the main house. But staff is really nice and owner is always very helpful. Also....for long term stays: rooms need more storage space!

Before staying at Co 404 in San Cris, I'd heard that San Cris is a magical place. At least for me, it was only magical because of people I was lucky enough to meet during my 2 weeks at Co 404. The entire place is built for a community, not just people staying at the same hostel. Staff and volunteers care about forming a sense of community and I really appreciate that. If you go to San Cris, please stay at Co 404.

When you enter co404 in San Cris, you become part of a family. Everything works well, the coworking space, the common spaces, the rooms. But it is the atmosphere that makes it unique. The garden where we have bonfire nights. The rooftop where we play cards. The family dinners. The "who wants to join xxx". I'ver never walked into a new place and felt more welcome. And the city also gets to your heart. It is vibrant, full of music and colors, friendly people, lots of small cafes and pubs to explore, and lots of good food to taste. :)

It's a great place to build community and make friends. The staff is attentive, and the rooms are very clean. The volunteers who work there will help you get to know San Cristobal. Laura was a great guide and showed me a lesser-known church.

Me and my partner have been traveling/digital nomads for 3 months now and Co404 was by far the best place we have stayed. Great working space, nice room, super friendly staff and volunteers. They plan activities most nights: family meal, climbing, thrift shopping, etc. San Cris is also one of our favourite places in Mexico, it has a really rich culture, great cheap food, and everything is pretty walkable

As a digital nomad who spent an incredible 10 months and 10 days at Co404, I feel OBLIGED to share my experience. It's not often that a place leaves such a profound impact on you. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by Santi into a community that soon felt like family. The mix of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and stories around every corner made every day an adventure. Anita, Cati, and Hugo, the staff, is always smiling and helpful, they are always willing to learn new words in English and always kind enough to whow us new Tzotzil and Tzeltal (The local languages) words. Wo'KOLAVAL! The facilities were more than just functional; they were a comfort zone. Reliable internet, comfortable workspaces, private cabins for Zoom Calls and communal areas that were always buzzing with energy and ideas. It was the perfect environment for a digital nomad like me, striking a balance between work and social life. But what truly set this experience apart was the emotional journey. The connections I made here were not just professional networks but genuine friendships. The Owners really know what they are doing... specially in terms of community building! I met over 40 volunteers in my 10 months and 10 days and Santi really makes an EXCELLENT job finding the best of the best! We shared meals, stories, and countless laughs but also tears sometimes when it was time to leave. The local culture was not something I observed as an outsider but was something I became a part of, San Cristobal is a vibrant Pueblo Mágico full of DELICIOUS restaurants from every corner of the World. (Including China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand, Italy, France, Spain, and of Course México) Leaving after 10 months and 10 days felt like leaving home. This place didn't just provide a roof over my head; it gave me memories that I'll cherish forever, lessons that I'll carry with me, and friendships that I'll always value. It's more than just a coliving space; it's a place where you grow, learn, and belong. THANK YOU Co404! I LOVE YOU!

Also many/most people are digital nomads, so the CoLiving has also a great atmosphere for working and productivity. The location, the chillout areas, the garden, the activities…the CoLiving has everything what you need to have great time :) I highly recommend!

Co.404 is the best coworking coliving hostel for a digital nomad. I have lived in both the Agave and main location in San Cristobal and stayed there for 3 months.The internet is great, cool interior design, rooms, garden, co work office, the staff is amazing, that is probably their biggest gift, choosing the right volunteers, who are warm, loving. I really enjoyed the activities like cooking classes, trips, concerts, the many restaurants and … of course the people i met.

I highly recommend Co404. It’s the perfect blend of privacy and social interaction, and also the prefect balance of work life and social life. There is a family atmosphere with events like weekly dinners, nature excursions, tours, and free yoga classes on the lawn. If you want to party, you will have friends to go out with. But also most guests are remote workers so there is a work balance too in the large coworking area. Many of the guests stay a lot longer that they initially thought because the place is so cool. Several guests also altered their plans so they could return later in their travels. Thank you to Co404 for making me a part of the family, and allowing me to discover more and more of beautiful San Cristobal. I will definitely stay again and again when I come back to San Cris!!

Co404 have figured out a perfect formula. Amazing volunteers, activities and community, nice rooms, reasonable price, and great location. The people it draws are wonderful, and it’s so nice to be able to spend weeks with the same people who are living a similar lifestyle to you. The backyard is beautiful and such an incredible place to work. This place is amazing and I am so grateful to have found it. San Cris itself is such a beautiful place. Anywhere you look you have amazing views in the mountains. The food scene is incredible. And the day trips are spectacular- especially the Sumidero canyons and Chiflon falls. The owners are fantastic, and I cannot wait to go to any and all of the new places that they open! Seriously, if you’re a digital nomad and you’re coming to Mexico, come here and go to the Oaxaca location, spending at least a month in each!

After travelling through Mexico for 8 months, it was a dream to end my trip at Co404 San Cris. I stayed here for a month, the best few weeks of my Mexican adventure. The GARDEN <3 is simply amazing. Lovely views on the terrace, a hammock, afternoon yoga, hummingbirds & butterflies. But obviously the real magic is done by the manager, Santi, and the volunteers. I instantly felt part of the community, the weekly activities are great, the vibes are simply amazing. I don't think I ever cried when leaving a hostel. This time I did. Love you all, I'll be back!

The community is so welcoming, volunteers are always around to help with anything you need, and there's always a good number of social events happening during the week (while simultaneously being very respectful of the work week!!). What a wonderful place to stay in San Cris. I initially booked for 1 week, extended it to 2, and if I didn’t have plans I’d stay longer. The community is great and I felt welcomed from the first day. Although it’s a hostel, most people stay at least a few weeks to months, so everyone treats it like their home. People here also actually work during the day, and it’s a great place to focus - whether at the desks, conference rooms, or outside in the backyard. There’s also weekly activities such as yoga, movie nights, and family dinners. They’re always great. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to book a stay here! You will definitely have an amazing.

I stayed here both as a guest and volunteer and it was phenomenal. You feel like a part of the family the minute you step through the door. This place has a perfect balance between productivity and unwinding. You don’t feel like you’re missing out if you have to work because many here are digital nomads, so the vibe is very chill+productive. You can easily fill your social meter while also getting work done, especially because they set up social activities around work hours. The garden is instantly serenity inducing and the views from the patio is relentlessly breathtaking. The sunsets alone would have made this place worth it. Showers are excellent. The rooms feel like straight out of a bohemian interior magazine. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in San Cris.

The perfect place to stay as digital nomads in San Cristobal. WiFi is excellent, great co working space and lots of people doing the same. Volunteers organise activities each week so you'll always have something to do. The house itself is really nice with cool decor. Nice chill out areas and the kitchen is great. I often feel uncomfortable in shared kitchens but this one is so well looked after by both guests and volunteers. Bedroom is great with an amazing shower. Would definitely go back here if I'm back in San Cristobal.

It's tough to know where to start with Co404. Even with world class cities and beaches that often steal the spotlight, this has been the highlight of my 6 months in Mexico. It's been the best, most pure application that I've seen of the "coliving" concept after 2 straight years of living in hostels and coliving spaces. Co404 took everything that makes hostels great and added modern amenities that digital nomads need to work and live. Great beds, a coworking space with tons of natural light, an outside garden perfect for relaxing in between tasks or meetings, and one of the best showers I've found anywhere. Add great communal areas and scheduled social activities every week and you'll see why it's so common for people to come for weeks and stay for months. This isn't even taking into account the amazing staff that really tie this place together. This was 6 weeks that I'll never forget and I can't wait to get back to Co404 in the future.

Where should I even begin… I stayed there once for 2 weeks and felt it was not enough at all! Then I organised my trip around Mexico to come back and stay longer. Second time, I stayed there for 2 months. Co404 has been my home for half of my time in Mexico. When I say home, I mean it. It’s a home away from home. Here, you’ll find everything you need from hot water in the shower (you know it’s rare in Mexico) to very strong reliable wifi (very important for digital nomad!). But above all, you’ll find a family. Like-minded people who will make you feel one of them from day 1. Left this place has been heartbroken from me, but I’ll be back someday soon ! David, Jocelyn and Lau, you guys can be super proud of what you built ! I would love to find such a place in each city I’m travelling to as a digital nomad! 404 is such an amazing place, where it is easy to fit in! If you work remotely this is the right hostel. Also if you like to follow a healthy lifestyle here you can find many enlighten minds. I will never forget the teaching of Jay, one of the volunteers who work here. My experience wouldn’t be the same without him. He can teach you a lot of stuff and together with Jesus is one of the most mindful person I have ever met.

We were so honoured to be among the first group of guests at Co.404 and will continue to shout from the rooftops about how great this place is to anyone that will listen! If you’re considering it, you should totally go ahead and stay here! 🙌🏼 Firstly, the atmosphere is fantastic. Coliving and coworking with these guys as well as the guests is the best - everyone is so friendly and great company. Secondly, the space is awesome. Great coworking ‘office’ that also has meeting cubicles so you can take private calls. If you want, you work outside instead where you’ll also find strong connection to the fast and stable WiFi (this is a rarity in San Cris!). Finally, the rooms are really comfortable and well decorated - the shared kitchen and relaxation spaces are lovely too. Enjoy!! And thank you Co.404 family! ❤️

My girlfriend and I lived at co.404 while were in San Cristobal, travelling as digital nomads. We were some of the first people to stay there but we were met with such a nice reception. We had an awesome little family for a month and it was excellent! WiFi was fast, kitchen was good and rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. We will be back!! You must stay here!

I stayed there for one month, and it was amazing, the staff was super helpful, everything was super clean. The shower was super nice too. And most importantly the WiFi was really good. If you're a digital nomad, don't think about it, just go there you won't regret it!
