The architecture of the rooms are very nice and the rooms are big. Mine even had stairs bc the bathroom is downstairs which is very cool! And it was with direct view on the small ‚river‘ 😻 Staff is very polite and there is free water 🌞 Still, on the pictures it looks a little bit more ‚perfect‘ than it is. For me it could have been a little bit more clean. 😊

Recommendations for those seeking tranquility

The Paica – An absolute disaster! Never again! I absolutely cannot recommend The Paica to anyone. This accommodation was the worst nightmare I have ever experienced. The moment I entered the room, I was hit with a disgusting, musty smell – as if it hadn't been aired out in years. But that was just the beginning! When I looked at the bed, I felt sick: The duvet and pillow were not only dirty but also damp – riddled with mold! How dare they offer guests something like that? But it got even worse: The floor was covered in crumbs and dirt; obviously, no one had lifted a finger to clean it. The bathroom was a complete horror – I have never seen anything so repulsive in my entire life! The ceiling was completely covered in mold, and the toilet still contained disgusting remnants left by previous guests. The sink was so filthy that a thick, sticky layer of grime had accumulated on it – it looked like it had never been cleaned. The tiles on the walls were damaged, the paint was peeling – simply disgusting! But the nightmare didn't end in the bathroom: The night was absolute torture. I didn't sleep a wink because the room was infested with vermin! Crawling and flying insects everywhere – on the bed, on the floor, on the walls. It was simply revolting! Unfortunately, I arrived in the middle of the night and therefore couldn't change accommodations. But if I had had the chance, I would have fled immediately! This was by far the worst experience of my entire life. This place should be shut down immediately! No one should have to go through something like this. I strongly advise everyone against even considering The Paica. Do not book here under any circumstances – it is an outrage and a health hazard! I hope this place will be shut down soon. It's outrageous to even offer something like this. Never again – and I warn everyone against making the same mistake I did!

The staff was very friendly. However, we stood around for five minutes before someone came to check us in. The property is very run-down and not very clean. There were other people's hairs in the room. The pool could definitely use a cleaning. And there aren't any places to hang towels in the room.

Okay for the price. Very friendly staff. Negative points: - "Far" from most amenities. - At the end of an alley with many dogs that seem quite aggressive (worrying given the country's health situation). - The rooms and bathrooms were renovated later and (in our case) have no ventilation. As a result, everything is damp all the time, nothing dries, and there are traces of mold. A hole needs to be drilled in one of the walls and a small fan installed to circulate the air.

I'd say this is a Hidden Gem! In Bali, it's common for a place to be ordinary or even remote on the outside, but inside it's luxurious, spacious, and incredibly beautiful! This accommodation is great, with a pool, a bar, and even some truly incredible views! The staff are friendly, the place is cool, shady, and very comfortable. I love it here; the facilities are quite complete and clean. The downside is the small driveway, but it's still spacious enough for a car, and there's a parking space for cars, so you don't have to worry too much about parking.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! A disaster! Unacceptable, unsanitary accommodation, mold everywhere! A landlord who couldn't care less! Be warned, the photos are completely misleading! Just because you're in Bali doesn't mean you have to accept this. We requested a refund immediately…thankfully with Airbnb. The landlord did reply, "OK, cool," when I said I was going to complain to Airbnb. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed in room D on the 2nd floor and that room is quite huge for 2 persons. Love the strong shower and jet shower was broken but the staff fixed it within a few hours. Unfortunately that room has no window so we need to open the door quite often for air circulation. Love to cook in their kitchen! House mates are very friendly feels like long time friends. Owner (bli Kadek) is very kind, we were allowed to stay 1 more day for free!

The location is tucked away down a small road, making it a bit difficult to find the sign from the main road due to trees blocking it. The road is only wide enough for one car, and the rooms are spacious and quiet. There's a swimming pool and a kitchen for cooking.

The location is quite remote, and in the middle of the alley, there's a vicious dog that bit me (I was riding a motorcycle). The place is actually nice, cool and comfortable for the heat of Denpasar. The kitchen is fully equipped, and the communal space is spacious and beautiful. However, it's poorly maintained (perhaps due to the pandemic and the hotel's long history). I slept in a tent room, and many parts were dirty. The water was on a very low level, so I had to wait a long time for the bathtub to fill and the jacuzzi to open. The hot water didn't work.

I’ve stayed at The Paica on 4-5 occasions from 2017-2020 and always found it to be exceptionally well managed, wonderfully kind staff always happy to help with great rooms and wonderful guests and terrific prices. It’s in a good location away from the Denpasar madness yet close enough to Canggu / Seminyak / Berawa for comfort. ||||The very comfortable beds ensure a great night’s sleep in this very peaceful jungle-like environment. Guests I have found always to be highly interesting, good people from all parts of the world, many I’ve met here are lifelong friends. I met my partner & future wife here : ) ||||Although Archie & his mate were a minor, brief problem they WERE evicted very quickly and were a once-only unique exception to the Family-like atmosphere that prevails all the times I’ve stayed for months. I’ve never had anything but a happy, comfortable time. ||||Facilities are very good in the common area downstairs and self cooking is available after the supplied breakfast from 11:00am. Or many warnings, restaurants are nearby, GoFood also and Canggu only 10-15 minutes by bike. Tiara Gatsu The great supermarket is 5 minutes by bike as is Dalung close. ||||The cute pool, while adequate caters for the hot lazy days. The selection of rooms is highly varied on 4 levels so should suite all needs. The Paica is a great venue well worth staying!! Highly recommended. I’m back as soon as Bali reopens!!! However, they're a bit slow to communicate when asked for things like the Wi-Fi password, welcome drink, room needs, etc. All the room amenities functioned normally, and the small swimming pool was cool and quiet. It would be a great alternative for staying if you need anything nearby.

Turning place is difficult if you bring a car

The Paica is a super nice little hostel. Ideal for relaxing. It's affordable and the location is very quiet. Yet it's not too far from the beach. Batu Bolong Beach is about a 20-minute scooter ride away. Behind the house is a small pool and adjacent to a small river. The staff is very helpful and happy to give tips for day trips. It's clean, and the rooms are cleaned daily. In the communal kitchen, people chat, cook together, and occasionally watch soccer. There's also a small folder with helpful tips, information about the area, house rules, and some translations. All in all, a visit or a stay is worth it. 5 stars *****

Unfortunately, I had a really bad experience here that caused me to cut my stay short and immediately move to another hotel. My problem is with the American guy Bobby who helps run The Paica and his friend Archie, and want to put out a warning that The Paica is not a safe place for LGBT, black, or female travelers. On my first night, I was invited to drink with them, and as the night went on, the conversation seriously crossed some lines. I am a gay guy, and Bobby and his friend ended up going on a homophobic tirade to my face, going so far as to threaten violence, and also basically say that they would kill their kids if they turned out to be gay. On top of that, they also went after a female guest, wanting to know how much they would have to pay her to have sex with them, and ended up barging into her room while she was naked. She was furious of course. Also part of this conversation was about how it's totally cool for white guys to say n*gga, and Bobby's Russian friend was going on about how it's his duty as a Russian to hate black and gay people. Again, they are not guests, but partners of the owner and are always there. I felt massively disrespected. Assuming Bobby is going to read this, I want to let you know bro, whatever your personal views are, as someone running a hospitality business you have got to grow up and learn to treat your guests with respect. I actually liked the Paica, I've stayed at the place before, and the design and price are great. But now I'm going to have to warn people, if you don't want to be part of this bigoted bro-fest, stay far away from the Paica. To Kadek, the owner, I would have a serious talk with Bobby about his behavior at your establishment. Hope you can learn from this.

I did the booking with Booking.com, the price was really good and the lowest among all booking website, and on top on that, Booking.com offered free taxi from the airport to the hotel. The hotel offered to pick us up for IDR200,000, before that I already checked O-Jek they are charging only IDR107,000 for pickup.||||The lane into the hotel is hard to miss if you don't keep an eye out for it, it's a small lane that fits only one car. We were riding in an Avanza, he was having a hard time reversing as cars and bikes were parked around the property. Finally he managed to.||||We arrived pretty late about 2.30am, nobody was at the reception except guest. I tried knocking on the staff door but nobody answered so I called the property and someone picked up, he say he will contact his staff to allow us into the room. ||||Our room is sort of like a duplex, downstairs is very spacious toilet. There's no TV in the room. There's a dead bug on the bed but not a big deal. The room is quite spacious but I think the bathroom is much bigger. The bed is comfy has 2 pillows and 2 bolsters. Air-cond is working good. No bottled water provided, we had to ask from the staff and they gave us a cup. ||||Bathroom has a huge cupboard but there is no hanging space for clothes, more like to keep toiletries. Shower foam/Shampoo is provided however I didn't use it because it didn't look too clean from the appearance. Hot shower is good for first day, second day onwards the hot shower only worked for 10 mins and then lukewarm.||||Garbage was not disposed of properly, its littered around the ground where the scooters are parked even though there is a bin there.||||We rented a scooter with the property for IDR60k/24 hours. Very convenient to get around and definetely very good as Bali traffic is congested and packed with cars. ||You have to checked the total charges for the scooter as the staff recorded the scooter based on the date we checked in and not based on when we rented the bike. He put us for 5 days even though we arrived at 2.30am on the first night and only rented the bike at the following day around 3.30pm. After checking with the owner, he agreed that it was only 3 days.||||Staff is friendly, they greet us when they see us. However we didn't know the usage of the kitchen. We do see other guest helping themself or cooking behind the counter but we didn't dare to. Would be great if we were taught or given the info on how to utilize the facilities.||||But overall a good stay, we were mostly out exploring Bali and only get back to the hotel only at night.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are quite spacious, perfect for young people and families. There's a kitchen and a refrigerator, and it's comfortable.

We stayed at the Paica for 2 nights and can definitely recommend it! First of all, it is quiet. It is located in Kerobokan district on a small street, meaning you won't be hearing motorbikes under your window all the time. You might be woken up by a rooster but not by a motorbike :) All people, who work at this place are super friendly. Everything from the beginning till the end was neatly organized. We arrived from Sumba and were picked up and spent a half a day driving around Bukit. The next day we had an idea to see the east part of Bali and Kadek organized again a car with a driver for 10 hours. The offered price was honest! We liked a lot the way of driving, behavior and politeness of the driver. |Breakfast is not included in the room price, which is already super low. However, you can order an omelette and coffee for 15k IDR, which is around 1$. Brewed coffee and nice omelette for 1$! Great value! Rooms are spacious and equipped with AC that is blowing somewhere but not into your head, when you sleep. Comfy bed, hot shower, AC, what else will you need?.. Payment can be done with a credit card (3% tax should be accounted). |If we ever come back to Bali and Denpasar, the Paica will be the place number 1 on our list. |The only minus I could remember about the place is high stairs, which might be an issue for elderly people and for those, who have issues with their knees.

It is a really friendly place! Really good standard. I stayed in the “Jungle Suite” room. If you like the atmosphere of co-living it is perfect place for you. We have spent 3 months there and have had no problems. We had a really beautiful room. Nice kitchen that we were able to share and cook with other people. Additionally there was a nice TV in the room and beautiful jungle views. Actually the staff make it really good that all the people have contact with each other. It’s cool to meet and hang out with people from around the world and a normal hotel doesn’t promote that! Highly recommend The Paica! There is a nice atmosphere of relaxing, community and fun :)

The alley leading to this place is narrow and only wide enough for one car. It's at a dead end, and turning around requires caution as the road in front of the guest house is uneven. There are signs at the front of the alley, but you have to look for them because the alley is narrow, so you often miss them.

We stayed in Paica for one month. It's a peaceful and quite place for relax and is perfect for long stay and work (internet is really good and there is a co-working zone). Owners are very friendly, room was clean, light and modern with hot shower, comfy bed and big windows. Staff cook delicious breakfasts. And you can have free cold water, tea and coffee all day. Also a very important thing for me was that there is a big clean common kitchen with whatever you need for cooking! 😌 And you know! That was the best place where we've stayed in our 6 month trip! |

I only spent one night at this hotel. I'll list the pros and cons: 👍 Spacious room, large comfortable bed, air conditioning, bathroom with hot water and a sink—just what I needed. Good breakfast with an onion and tomato omelet, although there wasn't much choice. Freshly squeezed juice, tea, and coffee are also available. Personally, I'm not a big fan of their tea, but the juice was good. ✔ The staff were welcoming and helpful. ✔ A taxi can be sent for €12 (200,000 rupiah). ✔ The hotel is quiet. ✔ The price is very affordable at €4 per night. 👎 The bathroom smelled a bit musty. Lizards and ants were running around the room and bathroom. It's a bit far from the city center.

The place is really good

Really nice place to stay. They organised my pick up from the airport for a fair price and helped me sort out some stuff around Bali. Kadek is really helpful and always nice, as anyone else working there. Price is good and you get a proper hotel room. The area is good to get to know local prices and experience normal Bali, as it is not a touristic and loud area like Kuta. Beach is 20mn by scooter, shops pretty close and scooter can be rented on site. The hotel is quiet and I meet some really nice people, not only random backpackers. They also have some big lockers you can rent for weeks, really handy when you want to keep travelling light around Bali. Thanks for all the help, I really enjoyed the stay.

My boyfriend is staying here but I don't like the girl who is sleeping in the room next to him, who seems to be teasing my boyfriend.

The accommodation is set a little out of the way in Denpasar and is said to be nice and quiet. This was my main reason for booking the accomodation as I had been poorly all week and wanted to recover in peace. The hosts offer a free shuttle bus each morning to the local attractions. The staff were very friendly and welcoming as were the other residents. My single room with private bathroom was clean however it did not have a sink in it so I had to use the shower to wash my hands ect which became a bit of a pain. My first night was lovely and I slept ever so well that I was considering extending my stay however my room had been booked out. After the second night I was kind of glad about this as my neighbours were far less than courteous in the evening and appeared to have some sort of loud meeting outside my bedroom door and on the landing. If I wasn't in bed naked and so poorly I would have dealt with this myself. All in all though the accommodation was fine for what I needed it for. The single room has a large desk for you to complete work at if you do not want to do this in the communal areas.|Also just to mention the stairs to get to the top floor are huge so if you have mobility issues this isn't the best place for you.

We stayed there for four nights. The hotel is located in a little corner of paradise, very quiet and soothed by the sounds of nature. The rooms are large, the bed is very comfortable, and everything is very clean. The only downside is the lack of windows or ventilation in the rooms, which causes unpleasant odors to rise, especially noticeable in the heat. Apart from that, the staff is superb, smiling, and very kind. ||Recommend for a short stay.

Mine was just one night’s stay and part of my review takes into account some concerns that other reviewers have noted. Sleep was perfectly adequate. When I go there the restaurant area was a mess, with garbage piled up in the can- it looked very unappetizing. The owner worked hard to please, good thing, because with one wing in a sling there was no way I could climb the extremely STEEP stairs up two floors with both 48 pound pack and a 20 lb backpack. As it was I nearly fell repeatedly because there is no bannister. Look, I am an athlete, I climb mountains, but I don’t do that with 50 lb pack and a small backpack, and I have hiking poles. This is an accident waiting to happen. Others note the same. Local spots to eat were very hard to find, although I located some fruit but you have to walk on the street along with all the traffic. that can be hair raising at night. I didn’t have breakfast, but after seeing the state of the kitchen, I wouldn’t have anyway. It was good enough for sleep, the AC works, the room was clean and neat, and the shower stall was just fine. There is only a view of rooftops.

Hotel is next to a river in a quiet area. Great for good sleep. Hotel staff is very friendly and polite. Breakfast is cooked freshly every day and served to you. Rooms are spacey with air conditioning. Wifi signal was very weak in the rooms downstairs but in the common kitchen area it was strong. You may encounter termites in the bathroom and small geckos in the room. Not harmful. |Overall it was a pleasant stay without major problems. I recommend it everyone who would like to enjoy a quiet stay away from traffic and noise in Denpasar.

Wonderful and comfortable place to stay

It's good friendly place

Nothing to say, the staff were very friendly, attentive, and honest. The place is very quiet with only the sounds of the jungle (a small, lush forest surrounds it) and the river that flows nearby. The room was very large with an impeccable king-size bed, and the bathroom was also huge and very clean. Towels, soap, and shampoo were provided. A shared refrigerator was available, and it was possible to have your laundry done; it would be returned neatly folded and ironed. There was also Wi-Fi. Inexpensive local restaurants were right next door, and a supermarket was 300 meters away. I am very satisfied with this place; there were no unpleasant surprises, and it's even better than in the photos. Thank you!

Aside from the good value for money I enjoyed the calm in this hidden guesthouse. Located about an 45-60min drive from the airport (because of heavy traffic) and 20min from the old market it’s very quiet. The staff and the owners are very kind and helpful. Take up their offer on airport transfers as the are a lot cheaper than any taxi.|Breakfast is omelette, toast and coffee/tea. Restaurants with local fare are in walking distance.|

Cheap and cheerful but not cheap

We stayed here for 8 nights after a trip to Flores. It's clean and cozy, and they quickly accommodate all our requests. Breakfast: a two-egg omelet, gravy, two slices of toast, water, fresh juice, and coffee. Breakfast is made fresh. The rooms are cleaned daily. It's located in a very quiet area, which is a definite plus for me.

Clean rooms, really friendly staff, but a bit far from everything! This can be an advantage because it's super quiet in the evenings! It's up to you how you want to experience your stay! :-)

Nice room, comfortable bed, warm shower, tasty breakfast, and friendly and helpful staff. I chose it because of the proximity to the airport and good reviews, but I still found it quite far away. Quiet, though.

The location is strategic

A resting place far from the hustle and bustle, located deep in the village... located on the riverbank with a beautiful garden...

We spent three nights in this hotel located in a small alley not far from the center and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff is very attentive and professional, the rooms are spacious and clean, as are the showers. A small kitchenette is available, which is a nice bonus!

The location is very unobtrusive, tucked away in a residential area. The guard isn't always on duty. The rooms aren't as spacious as expected. They offer car rentals at market prices. The owner is friendly and offers discounts for extra hours.

Even though the hotel is in Denpasar, you don't feel like you're in the middle of the city. Surrounding the hotel are lush vegetation and a river that provides a sense of seclusion from other buildings. The hotel is very clean, and the atmosphere is pleasant: "It's not a hotel, it's not a hostel, it's not an inn; the Paica Hotel is where you can meet and live an adventure." The staff are very friendly and always available. The hotel provides drinking water, which makes day trips much easier. If you need to go into Denpasar, the hotel offers a free shuttle service. The rooms have air conditioning, a welcome feature in Bali's hot climate. Ultimately, the Paica Hotel is a Denpasar hotel that makes you forget about Denpasar.

A comfortable and cool place

Peaceful and quiet. Chance to mingle with Balinese people and experience authentic Balinese culture as it is located away from the predictable tourist zones, in a locals only area. Nearby (walking) grocery store, Circle K, and numerous restaurants, pharmacy, local olympic size swimming pool. Hotel has a complimentary daily shuttle to the tourist beach and western style malls.

This is a place to meet globe trotters galore! The facilities are adequate and the kitchen a hub of activity during evenings. The location may be remote from beaches and tourist attractions but only a free taxi ride away! I shall most definately come back to this paradise!

there is nothing much to see around the paica or there aren't many restaurants by walking distance. It's peaceful here though. Don't forget to turn the lights off or close the curtain. There are heaps of insects around the paica

Our room was large and clean. We arrived very late but were still greeted warmly. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom. Clean and inexpensive. ||||The staff – at least at night – speak poor English. Our booked room was unavailable upon arrival. Furthermore, there was no information whatsoever when we arrived (breakfast times, etc.). In the morning, we felt pressured to check out/depart, even though we had initially considered staying another night. We did not feel welcome. The Wi-Fi was poor. The hotel was very noisy overall. The rooms had large windows facing the hallway, with curtains to prevent guests from seeing in. It was very remotely located, not well-suited for excursions, and difficult for taxi drivers to find. There was construction work going on right next to the hotel, which was noisy early in the morning. Overall, our expectations were disappointed. We had expected better based on the reviews.

Homey, clean, with very friendly service, perfect for a family vacation. Prices are very reasonable, starting at 200,000 Rupiah. Amenities include breakfast, Wi-Fi, and a hot shower. It's top-notch for a very affordable price.

Cheap and comfortable

Stayed there for 2 days. The owner of the place was really helpful with, for example, cheap taxis. My friend and I went to Sanur one of the days, where we Kadek got us a taxi home (we wrote to him via Whatsapp) for 100,000 rupiah, and where the others wanted 250,000. ||In addition, he is incredibly talkative - and has understandable English. ||However, the location of the hotel is not the best, so there is not much in the area. But that's where cheap taxis come in handy!! ||The beds are super good - and then there is actually a duvet! ||Overall, a lovely place!!

Remote hotel.. dangerous and steep entrance.. road width is only enough for one car, no garage, entry to the hotel area is quite far from the main road.

It's an amazing house. If I remember correctly, it has four bedrooms. The bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious. The bathroom is well-equipped and has hot water. There's a kitchen for shared use, and they sell water and beer. It has a nice terrace where you can relax. The owners are very attentive and will get you anything you need. We needed to exchange money, and they helped us. They prepare breakfast themselves, and they made us toast with honey, banana, and cheese—the best breakfast we had in Bali. They also provided tea and coffee. They also have a map of the area showing supermarkets, a public swimming pool (we went, and it's very nice, although we had to swim in our street clothes), etc. In short, if you're passing through Denpasar, stay here.

The guesthouse has lovely, large, and clean rooms. It's located a bit off the beaten path, which I found quite convenient for settling in. The breakfast is fantastic, the family is very friendly, and they give lots of helpful tips. The owner even spontaneously drove us to Sanur and helped us find a local ferry. I thought that was incredibly kind. We stayed here again before our flight home :-)

The hotel is nice and new. It's located far from the road, so it's hard to find right away. The room is small, but clean and not shabby. There's a terrace and a kitchen. I liked the design of the furniture—everything is so wooden. I enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace. By the way, they can bring food to order.
